3rd week of 97% - so now what happens? - mt

Are they going to fire me? And is it true that they can remotely go into my computer to see if I'm working or not? See what websites I've been at?

I would like to know if this true also. If it is that is illegal, an invasion of privacy. - WHAT?

No one has a right to go into your computer and see what sites you have been into. That is illegal. These are our personal computers regardless that we do work on them. I would like to know how past employees know this has happened because I have heard this before.

In order to stay sane, I had to quit upsetting myself with that crap. And yes, if they fire me, oh well. I'll collect UE and take a nice long break.

They try to make it sound really casual, just pop into FIESA above work. But can they require us to perform tasks we are not paid for?

I mean, seriously the only thing you get paid for are the lines you produce-forget the time spent looking up dr. names or anything else, the time you spend reading company emails, etc. Didn't seem like a big deal until line wages got cut. I'd be better off being paid by the hour.

I appreciate the opportunity to learn from my mistakes. But when you are doing new drs every day with different MT instructions for each account, institution and speaker, it is not a matter of my making careless mistakes or once I see a blank filled in, it will help me. Just wanted to say that.

One QA will mark for something, another won't, and then next week will? Looking at it from a patient perspective if my care is not at risk, then why mark off for small stupid stuff. And what about the doctors who have runnnnonnnsentences? If I didn't end it somewhere some reports would be one long sentence but I get marked off for leaving out "AND" and starting a new sentence? My favorite are the doctors who runs all the impressions/diagnoses/plans together and half of them are partial sentences, so I started numbering them so it made sense-told not to number them unless he does. Seriously? Let it all run together?

The fact that they think that they can "demand" us to look at Fiesa is beyond me...pay me to do it and then I will. In the beginning I didn't mind Fiesa simply b/c the account I work on is an account from H...and it helped me to see the blanks. But then after being here for a while, I started getting marked off for stupid stuff. Fixing a run-on sentence, taking "and" out and putting a period to start a new sentence, being marked off 3 points for putting a comma between each lab instead of making each one a different sentence fragment (not in the specs by the way, just how QA now wants it) and the list goes on. My QA used to be good. In fact, I will have a 99% or higher until it gets close to the end of the pay period and then all the sudden I forgot how to do my job and my QA drops to a 97%. They do it on purpose. They find the smallest thing to mark off. They want us to be perfect all the time, but they are not perfect. They can't even run a company and keep employees. There comes a point in time that you get so sick and tired of sitting here and doing so much work for free. There are serious problems in regards to our pay and our benefits (ha, ha there) and this is industry wide. I love working as an MT, but it is sickening when I have had to have higher education and experience on top of that to even get my job and barely making minimum wage. In fact, i am making a lot less than when I started as an MT over 10 years ago. Shouldn't that be opposite...shouldn't we make more as time goes on and not less. Sorry I had to vent.

I hate Fiesa. I left out a coma, OMG fire me. Its stupid. Why dont they ever care about the real job being the medical termninology that is correct. They nag about the small crap because it is a way to keep you down. Good thing this is not my "real" job.

Although I don't work there anymore, I was not quite sure about the capabilities associated with being logged into Comagent or having the program installed. Hopefully, I was just being my skeptical self. :)

I use my own computer and was never given any books, equipment, nothing, so I know they aren't keeping tabs on me. I guess that's the only good thing about being given diddly squat by this company to be an EMPLOYER.

Good grief. I did not change the way I edit. It so depends on how many commas they think you should have. I've never heard of National MT Week.  Been doing MT for 10 years for the same MTSO.  Never came on to MT Stars until about the last six months.  Obviously, I have never gotten anything for MT Week, so at least some of you are lucky that you do get a little something, whatever it might be.  My MT job just keeps getting better and better (NOT) with pay decreases and work lost to VR.  ...

I really think the easiest way to send MModal a message would be if everyone, and I mean everyone, just did not participate.  I think that would be the loudest message of all that we do not give a flying cr** about their "games" anymore. You want to appreciate me, treat me like the skilled, knowledgable, MT that I used to be paid a living a fair wage for.  Bring back a real incentive, bring back shift differentials, give back an actual end-of year bonus, etc. ...

 OMG, what a horrible time I'm having.  This pay I'm not even averaging my minimum.  All around the country again.  What happened to lock down?  I thought I sent 2 reports to QA but forgot to mark the QA box.  Not my fault for the blanks but according to what I've been told, if we just can't understand the dictator, we have to send it to QA.  MOST of the work I send to QA they can't get either, but its counted against us anyway.  W ...

I did not not have any Major marks, but only a lot of minor - i.e., two liters versus 2L, grams versus g.  I should just quit and go work at the big lots, less stress more money   ...

Just received my MT gift.  I really think that Medquist must feel "It is the thought that counts".  It probably cost them more to mail these then they are worth.  Why don't they just give us an extra hour off with training pay - worth more to me than this mousepad.  I need an ergonomic mouse pad anyway - did they ever think of giving their "beloved" employees one of those?  Oh well.  Just another day being an MT. ...

The little "trinkets" some of you have received is extremely comical and a so-called slap in the face to some, but some may view it as an actual good gesture, although I do not agree. When I worked at neurology they used to always acknowledge MT week with flowers or a $25 gift card to our local mall, but when they got a new office manager he combined Secretary's Week and MT Week into one. My coworker and I got acknowledged one year on Secretary's Week - now that is a slap in the face ...
