I'm trying to finish out my notice and will have to force myself to turn on that stupid computer in the a.m. May not be finishing out because I am not going to be strapped down waiting for piddly crap to come my way every 45 minutes.

I just keep wondering what the patients would say if they knew their records were going to India just to save a few bucks. I'd love for some news media to pick it up and ask that very question.

I believe it is going to take a well-worded letter to a congressman or someone who is not a hire-up as they will just sweep it under the carpet. How about a picket line in front of hospitals that we know send work overseas or a well put letter to the editor of a local good sized news paper. Patient' have absolutely no idea this is going on and half if the staff does either. Something needs to be done before the smell of a very serious lawsuit begins, or maybe that IS what it is going to take!

Maybe we should collectively stop using the docs that participate in sending work overseas?!? Being a cancer survior myself, I am in complete disgust with what is happening in EMR. Last week, I contacted a local HIM at a hospital in our county. A Foc and I had a disagreement and apparently was saying such awful things about me it was affecting my healthcare all over the place. They wondered what to if I cn in and the needed to get info...I told them to ask me! I thought thru HIPPA things were sealed, not not when it comes to EMR. Any more of this crap and I am going to do it again, Discharge me from his practice is fine but to back mouth me all over the county borders of a breach of ethics in book. Lord only know what we would do if our medical records got released over there. There is no enforceable HIPPA. Our laws do not have to be honored over seas!

about the newspaper thing, some letters to the editor or ads in some of the bigger cities where the hospitals use the Q. The letter wouldn't even have to mention the Q's name, just inform patients to ask their docs who has access to their info and the correctness of the reports. It's too bad we don't have a voice to speak for us, the MTs (meaning AHDI- if that's even what it's called now).

Guessing we are one great mind as far as what is happening, pts not knowing where records are going, and all the outsourcing to people who in reality HATE Americans!!! I had thought of writing a letter, but don't know the best places to strike. Wonder if our local TV channel WCAX would be interested, it covers Vermont and New York, and I'm not sure where else. Maybe some larger affiliate would pick it up. I too am waiting for the lawsuits to start, and they will. I just couldn't afford to wait around till that happened, not with bills to pay, not to mention the stress. As far as working a notice, I gave 2 days. What did it matter, my account was gone and I was getting a measly job here and there, mostly from secondary!!! I would have stuck around and done the "right" thing with a notice if my account was sent ...... somewhere! Uh-huh! Figured they didn't give me any notice!

I never had a problem w/ sharing work w/ India when I started 10-plus yrs ago, and I knew up front when I was hired there was a div in India. That said, back then (HealthScribe) I was appreciated. My CCM (team lead then) would send us little personal certificates saying "You did a good job," etc., when we did well and we got paid bonuses for exceeding line count & quality. I would love to find out what patients think about it now and find a doc to read some of their output to see how it measures up.

Good grief. I did not change the way I edit. It so depends on how many commas they think you should have. Yes, I made an unusual (for me) mistake last week, but the rest of passing an audit is dumb luck of whether you get a realistic auditor or Ms English wannabe. Obviously, I have never gotten anything for MT Week, so at least some of you are lucky that you do get a little something, whatever it might be. I really think the easiest way to send MModal a message would be if everyone, and I mean everyone, just did not participate. I think that would be the loudest message of all that we do not give a flying cr** about their "games" anymore. OMG, what a horrible time I'm having. This pay I'm not even averaging my minimum. All around the country again. What happened to lock down? I thought I sent 2 reports to QA but forgot to mark the QA box. Not my fault for the blanks but according to what I've been told, if we just can't understand the dictator, we have to send it to QA. Just received my MT gift. I really think that Medquist must feel "It is the thought that counts". It probably cost them more to mail these then they are worth. Why don't they just give us an extra hour off with training pay - worth more to me than this mousepad. The little "trinkets" some of you have received is extremely comical and a so-called slap in the face to some, but some may view it as an actual good gesture, although I do not agree. When I worked at neurology they used to always acknowledge MT week with flowers or a $25 gift card to our local mall, but when they got a new office manager he combined Secretary's Week and MT Week into one. My coworker and I got acknowledged one year on Secretary's Week - now that is a slap in the face ...
