A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
Hi everyone. I am a recent graduate from Rasmussen online college with a 2 year degree in medical transcription. I just graduated in September. I did land a very very part time homed medical transcription job in mid November and was let go in January because the lady I subcontracted for told me she needed me to be perfect within 2 months and I wasn't delivering the kind of perfection she needed. I kept reminding her that I had 0 medical transcription experience before my education training and very minimal internship experience. She hired me based on the fact that I have a 2 year degree not a 9 month training diploma. I talked to my career services advisor about her expecations on me being a newbie and she said her expectations were way too high and that she shouldn't have hired me if she wanted me to be perfect right away. To make the long story short, when she hired me she said it would take me at least 6 months to be good at what I was doing, and she fired me after 2 months because I wasn't perfect enough. I was only making small grammar errors.
I am currently back a square one, looking for entry level medical transcription work, hopefully working from home again. I would like to work fulltime and I'm even willing to take non medical transcription work. If anyone knows of any medical transcription services that are hiring newbies like me with little job experience please let me know. Even if it is an out of state transcription service that is willing to hire me to work from home and take a test I would be willing to do that. I already applied for MedQuist and failed their tests twice and I am in the processing of getting my test reviewed with RI Unlimited. If anyone can suggest anything else for me I would greatly appreciate it and pass on the word to other newbies. Thank you.
