At-Home Professions is an accredited school - MargoMT
Posted: Nov 10, 2009
I am a graduate of At-Home Professions, I graduated in 2006. It is an accredited school. After completion of the program which actually took about one year, because I was working full time and completing the online course at the same time. I was impressed with the courses and the help/assistance I received upon completion of the course. When I completed the course I applied at a local MT company and was picked up to work in-house for one year and then home to work. I have been employed since 2006 and love what I do. I have heard that At-Home Professions is not a "highly recognized" school/course for medical transcription. I beg to differ. If you have any questions you may email me directly. Good luck with your medical transcription school search!

You say in your post that At-Home_Professions is an accredited school?
Accredited by whom? Not by the AHDI, it is not included in their approved MT schools.
'To be an accredited program' means, it has to be accredited and approved by the AHDI.
At-Home-Professions is not.

It is a MATCHBOOK school. Most MTSOs will not take applications from its graduates. I know I won't.

I also graduated from At-Home Professions and loved the education I got there. I have never had any trouble finding work because I went there. As far as being accredited, I believe it is accredited through Colorado as a college (they are associated with another college as well that offers other programs, kind of like College of America-type school) and that is how they are accredited.

Transam Assoc. & My So-called Accredited School Sep 16, 2010I have been reading through this site about good schools and also I found that there was information about Transam Associates. As far as schools go, I graduated from Allied School of Medical and was told that they had companies lined up for their new grads because their program was so good! They would assist you in finding a job and blah, blah, blah. Only $2,970 and you can pay over a year or get funding. They were accredited. Well, within a month or so, my finances ...
Going To Go To School For RHIT, Does It Matter If It Is Accredited Through CHAIIM Nov 13, 2014I have gone through coding school. I am not credentialed and it's been about 2-1/2 years since I finished school. So, I am rusty in the guidelines and thought just going for an Associates would be beneficial. So, I wondered if it really matters if the school program is CHAIIM accredited, or if any AAS degree in Health Information program will be okay and then get the RHIT crendential.
Thank you in advance greatly! :) ...
About Accredited Schools - School Loans - And Oppressive Debt Resulting From Them Jan 05, 2012This past year I have read dozens of articles about "accredited" schools that are "approved for federal student loans", that enroll students, enticing them by offering financial aid, pressuring them to enroll even, calling them, e-maiing them, then, after they get them enrolled, not teaching them enough so they can get a job to repay those student loans. They keep them in the program long enough so that they get paid, giving the students "happy grades" so they don't get discouraged and quit ...

Thread About Accredited Colleges/Schools - School Loans - And Oppressive Debt Resulting From Them - Jan 07, 2012There's an interesting thread on the New MT board about accredited schools, school loans, and oppressive debt students are facing. I did a search today and there are dozens of articles talking about how students are thousands of dollars in debt for student loans when the education they got was so poor that they can't find a job at all. Others can find a job, but it will take 20-30 years for them to pay back the student loans. They went to those schools because they got pressured ...

Changing Professions Feb 28, 2010This message is to everyone who posts on this board, especially those who are advising/telling others to get out of the medical transcription field. It seems that things have changed overnight with voice recognition and electronic charting but it is still very new and probably too soon to tell for sure how it will impact us. Many of you are imagining the worst and every directive from a company or news item that appears is taken out of context and blown out of proportion by certain p ...
Change Professions Everyone - It's Time - Here's How I Did It May 31, 2013I started medical transcription 16 years ago - all excited and thrilled to be able to work at home. I made $20 to $25 an hour. It allowed me to stay home with my children and still have a good income. 16 years ago, the starting rate per line was - .06 per line. Which is now STILL the starting rate for many companies. A few lucky old souls out there may get .09 or even .10 a line. However, when I started, all we did was straight typing. No pasting notes, ...
For Those On Disability Who Need To Change Professions (sm) Jan 02, 2014After I became disabled I went to the state Department of Rehabilitation and was amazed how much help they offer people who need to train for new careers. So for those who are disabled and working part time because of it, you might want ...

Coding School - Considering Going To A School Sep 22, 2011I am an MT who is considering going to school for coding. I am thinking about taking the course through Andrews and will probably start next year because I will have to save up some of the money. I realize it will be a hard course but I think it will be worth the effort. Any thoughts would be appre ...

At Home MTs - Feb 09, 2012What do your QA people actually do?
