Posted: Jun 26, 2012

Does anyone know when PTO starts to accrue for MModal and when you can actually take it?  Supposedly they dont honor time off without pay, what happens if  you are sick or have an emergency and can't work one day????

90 days before you can take pto if accrued..sm - cmk

Excused Absence Procedure

Employees may need to take time off in extenuating circumstances where they cannot make up the time in the same work week or they may not have accrued PTO to use. The steps below need to be followed for the approval and reporting of excused absences:

1. Employees must request time off via email to their Supervisor.

Note: Requesting use of PTO after the fact does not change an unexcused absence to an excused absence. All no show absences are to be classified appropriately as unexcused absences.

2. CCM will review the request and approve or deny the request via email.

a. Prior to approving an excused absence the CCM should verify the past absence history, current backlog, dictation volume/throughput and current staffing, future scheduling and already approved PTO for the days being requested to ensure there is appropriate coverage.

b. Excused absences should only be granted in the following situations and with a maximum amount of time as noted:

i. Sickness – 3 days per year (A doctor’s note is required for any absence two days or more due to sickness, as defined in the Employee handbook)

ii. Family Emergencies – To include medical appointments, unscheduled school meetings or any other emergency situation for which a special leave does not apply – 5 days per year.

iii. Unpaid Vacation – 5 days (Flexible part-time only). Full-time and regular part-time Employees are required to use PTO for vacations.

Exceptions:

If a CCM has an Employee for whom he/she needs to approve additional days of excused time off, the CCM must obtain Region Operations Director level approval.

I love their use of "unexcused." I wonder what THEIR excuse is for requiring employees to show up on their scheduled days, ready and able to work, and then not have any work for them to do? That's inexcusable, if you ask me.

Thats always the way, never enough work. They always have a story for something at this company. They give you all kinds of false info when trying to hire you. Once you start its a totally different game.
Oh, the funniest part is when there's a buyout - MT

I've seen it happen *dozens* of times ... they literally will tell the new employees *anything* to get them to stay on. Oh, nothing will change ... you will work the same account forever and ever, you will earn the exact same money forever and ever, you will have tons and tons of work ...

The new employees come away from the buyout thinking everything is going to be fairies and butterflies but it never takes long before they find their way here to ask "Where has all my work and income gone??"

It just makes me roll my eyes.

Oh don't tell me that!! I believe I'm a regular PT and only - shortcake

accrue 5 days off a year. So I have to use that for sick days and emergencies, and also vacation!!!! That's ridiculous. My husband has a good amount of vacation time each year and our families live out of state and the only way to spend time with them is to take time off. I also work weekends. I feel sick to my stomach. I have never had a problem taking time off without pay before. Again, I only take around 2 weeks a year and I don't believe I have had a sick/emergency day in many years. How can they be this rigid when there are so many times there isn't even work for us to do!!! I have a family wedding out of state in September (I work weekends), I better request it now. If denied I am out of here. This is too stressful of a job to barely be hearing grocery money. I get no benefits, work every Saturday, every holiday that falls on my workday, 5 PTO days to be used for vacation/sick/emergencies??? I'm sick to my stomach. I need a power walk right now. Oh, and I was told during the buyout that taking time off without pay would not be a problem as long as it wasn't excessive. Just another lie I suppose....

Don't stress Shortcake. I have asked for unpaid - time off several times, and I am

regular part time like you are. There has never been a problem. I went on vacation just a month ago and had to take 4 days unpaid. As long as you aren't on an account that constantly requires overtime, then I wouldn't imagine there would be an issue with it.

Mmodal Part-time Job
Jan 01, 2013

Question: I was hired by MModal to begin a part-time evening job doing a cardio account on the Cornerstone platform. I receved all the equpiment and hooked it all up (by myself) and had "orientation" last week telling me that I now had 14 hours of Training on the system supplied by instructional videos showng me how to use the system, timeclock, etc. As I will be paid on a production basis, I'm already a little skeptical because the Corrnerstone platform seems very cumbersome with a lot of ...

What Are Full-time Status Requirements At MModal?
Feb 06, 2013

I was a loyal Transcend employee; took a lot of heat on these boards for defending them, got accused of being a suit and worse (I've been a suit and trust me, it's overrated). Now, Nuance has hit me with a 20% pay cut for no reason other than that's just what they do to everybody, and QA people who have never even SEEN the account I've worked on for 4 years are nickel-and-diming me for things I know for a fact I have typed exactly the way the client wants. Trying To Find Part-time Or Full-time Employee Position (hospital/clinic)
Apr 30, 2013

If anyone knows of a hospital, clinic, or large practice offering remote full-time or part-time employee positions, I would really appreciate an email.  I have the sudden need to help support a family member long term (in addition to myself) and really need to find a long-term remote employee position for the stability.  Yes, I watch all the various employment sites and even individual hospital sites, but I was hoping that maybe, just maybe someone who works for a hospital that does th ...

Overtime Because Of The Time Clock Time Zone Change?
Feb 06, 2011

It has been inconvenient, and maybe a bit confusing at times, to check my time card hours for my shift as, because of my time zone, part of my hours show up on the next day because I work 2nd shift. I wonder if I will get overtime for yesterday, even though I did not work overtime. I had to start work several hours early because of maintenance, so all hours were completed before the hour my hours start showing up on the next day. Fine. But the last couple hours of yesterday show up as today, ...

Anybody Else's Actual Time Worked Not Match Clocked Time?

Ever since they have changed Schedule Source and now it has a display called today's activity with "actuals" hours, this has not matched the hours shown with the time clock punches and is less than the hours according to the clock punch. MQ Rehire Policy For Part Time To Full Time
Apr 09, 2011

I worked for MQ full time and then went to part time last year, before finally quitting altogether because of health problems. I seem to remember an obscure policy that if you were full time and then went to part time, you could not go back to full time for a period of at least 1 year.  Can anyone verify that for me? IF, and this is a big IF, I were to go back to work for MQ, I would need to be full time. ...
