Does anybody know if the DocQscribe expander can transfer between different MTSOs? I recently got a part-time job that is also on DQS platform and I don't want to have to start all over on my expanders at this new company. My MQ expander file is quite large and years in the making. Thank you.

I recently started a new second job and wanted to transfer my DocQScribe expander to my other computer. I was told that if you can save the file in pdf, you can transfer it. I don't know how to do that. I hope you do! Good luck!

I recently applied for a job that was not on the DQS platform and the first thing I asked about was expanders. They said they had never had a problem putting DQS expanders into their platform. They said tech support would do it.

Does your new company have tech support that could guide you through the process? The only thing, I know for sure is you have to backup your user.aco file (your expander file) and then they work with that. MQ tech support could tell you how to do that.

In case you don't want tech support to know, there was actually something posted in MQ Central about how to copy your expanders. I actually printed it out for myself, and it is stil there - Departments - Operations - Customer Support Services - Medical Transcriptionist - MT News - Q-Tips - Technology.

Follow the instructions and you can back it up on your desktop or to a jump drive.

If you are going to work for a company with the DQS platform, all that happens is they will give you new numbers for the username and a new company number. You put the new numbers in the log-in and all of your expanders will be there. No problem at all!!!

HOW TO BACKUP USER FILE - Old MT

I use Windows XP and have an HP computer.

I back up my expander files as well as my dictionary files whenever I add to them and try to back them up at least weekly.

I have made a shortcut to my desktop so all I need to do is insert my flash drive and click on my shortcut and copy over the files.

Here is where they are located on my PC:

C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataDocQscribeMQ1CacheUser Profile 57527 [which is MQ], then double-click on that folder and there should be another folder that is numbered. Double-click on that and inside should be your user.aco and userdic.tlx files. You can save them anywhere you choose -- flash drive, A-Drive, CD, etc.

Most of my reports are done on Word 2010. I recently learned after having problems with the AutoCorrect shutting down Word every time I misspelled something in my AutoCorrect entry list that AutoCorrect has a limit to how many entries you can add. I was forced to switch to Windows 7 and I found that Stedmans Smartype was no longer compatible. After shedding some tears, I am searching for a new one. In school, we were given the opportunity to have a 4-month trial of Shorthand for Windows. Is anyone using or has tried Breevy as an expander and, if so, did you find it works well? I'm Googling around looking at various expanders after having tried a few but, money being tight, trying to find a good "fit" with my needs for the least amount of expenditure, if possible.
