Expander in DQS - nobody knows

Can anyone tell me the best expander to use in DQS? What is everyone's preference? I have SH and before I renew, just wondered if there was one that worked better with DQS

Apparently the expander is so good in DQS that nobody uses any. Thanks for ALL the help, no wonder your all stuck at MQ!

Sorry, didn't mean to be contrite. Thank YOU, at least, for answering. I really don't know why I bother posting to any boards since no one answers anyway and I know someone has answers because they are just a general question about DQS. I do appreciate your reply though.

I was confused at first by your post because I thought we all use the DocQscribe expander. Maybe others were too.

Thanks you cant afford. Your probably right. I have posted the same question over the past 4-5 days and nobody answered. Do you find the DQS expander sufficient? I will be starting a new job and wondered if I needed something more.

When I started with MQ 3 years ago, I looked at getting an independent expander, but you still have to create the expansions and the MQ one does that just fine, for free, and if you get a nice IT person at some point, they can show you how to download your personal expander file and use it any other standard program (I have no need but some tech person did show me once). The only thing I did was bought "Saving Keystrokes" (book) to figure out some standard ways of creating expansions - it is worth every penny because it teaches you some overall techniques so that you do not have to remember every expansion individually, just the conventions you choose to set them up. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. I do have SH and before I start my new job I will ask Tech Support for help. I also have Saving Keystrokes, but never got through it all. I have 2 weeks to read it. I did implement some of the shortcuts, but alas, I have forgotten what I put in!!! Wish I could remember or find an easier way! I appreciate the help.

are here to complain and whine, so skipping through posts so that you can slam someone or post something stupid is common. Most of the posters believe that MQ conspires against them personally every day specifically to make their lives miserable. You are not going to get much positive input from this bunch.

Thanks for the "heads up." I have already figured that out. My opinion, if you don't like it, get out. There are legitimate jobs out there and I found one easily and will leave WMX in 2 weeks. I am not looking to make "zillions," although it would be nice. It just doesn't happen in this profession. I have been in it for 25+ years, in hospital setting, doctor's offices and now home. The medical profession just does not pay its clerical help. Been that way for years and won't change in my lifetime. My daughter and son-in-law are paramedics and for the work they do it is $18-19/hour, 12 hour rotating shifts that change every 3 months.

"built-in" MQ expander for MQ. In my opinion, the MQ expander is 100x better than shortcut. I bought shortcut because it was the cheapest since I had to shell out 400- for the Olympus DSS software for my local docs. Live and learn. I'd never buy it again.

I've been doing transcription for 20+ years and have never used an expander program (such as Instant Text or Shorthand), except for what one can create with the Auto Text/Auto Correct functions in Word. Most of my reports are done on Word 2010. I was forced to switch to Windows 7 and I found that Stedmans Smartype was no longer compatible. After shedding some tears, I am searching for a new one. I'm looking for just a basic expander program that works similar to Word auto correct. I've found two that seem to work very much like the one I'm used to, and similar to auto correct. Is anyone using or has tried Breevy as an expander and, if so, did you find it works well? I'm Googling around looking at various expanders after having tried a few but, money being tight, trying to find a good "fit" with my needs for the least amount of expenditure, if possible. It looks like Breevy comes preloaded with 13,500 MT abbreviations and it's easy to import AutoCorrect/AutoText stuff. Too good to be true? Anyway, anyone using Breevy with input to share? &n ...
