12 years because of recent implementation of SpeechQ. Twenty of us will soon be on unemployment. I am part-time with MQ, but getting paid minimum wage so don't want to try to turn it into a full-time job. Need to find a full time that will pay better. Will be losing FT 20/hour + benefits. That's 1-1/2 times my state's minimum wage. Happy holidays to all of us.

I am sorry for the loss of your job. I am curious as to how SpeechQ is working in your hospital's radiology department? From what I read, physicians have real time access to their reports and are able to make corrections, et cetera. I really cannot see some of the physicians from the account I work on agreeing to do this--too time consuming for a patient driven quota industry, this would force a few of them to actually make sense and show that they know what they are talking about, perhaps "below them", et cetera. Perhaps new positions for dictating specialists, not radiology, but other specialties that can be gleaned from the chart?

off all of their reports front-end edited and signed. Transcription never sees them. (They can create their own templates also to use for the various imaging studies and then just fill in blanks.) The remainder of the reports are coming to us for back-end editing just like MQ ASR. However, they require very little editing for the most part. SpeechQ actually learns. A couple of people in the dept. will keep their jobs in order to deal with the reports that come in for back-end editing since not all of the radiologists want to edit their own reports. But the turnaround time is so much faster that a couple is all that will be needed. There seems to be an age component in how the radiologists have embraced SQ -- the younger ones being more open to new technology and learning very quickly how it can simplify the whole process for them. They seem quite happy to be in complete charge of producing their own documentation.

Go figure. The higher ups get more money in their pockets, ALWAYS, and us MT's who "HE APPRECIATES" as stated in the letter will be screwed because we will be out of work. He only sent that letter to ease his guilty conscious.

What was this about not having enough MT's in the future? LIES, LIES, LIES!!!!

GOSH! To the higher ups, we are nothing but a bunch of peons waiting to be slaughtered while they have the last laugh.

Oh honey, I seriously doubt "they" have a conscious. But yeah, the letter was total bullsh*t. I actually laughed as I read it. I figure if I suddenly find myself out of a job then it's a blessing in disguise. There will be something bigger and better out there for me.

If this is simply a program that is sold to health care institutions..other than nomimal charges for updates and tweaking the program, it certainly is not a revenue-producing program. They sell this RealTime SpeechQ, it is installed, physicians are dragged kicking and screaming to a portal to complete their reports and that is it. No need for MTs, hence no more revenue for MedQ. Busy physicians will HATE this...having to simultaneously dictate, correct, and see patients...but I am confident this is the wave..it may not happen right away...but definitely MTs will be gone in the next few years. Generic fill in the blank reports will become the norm.

without having to answer to anyone. if errors go through, so be it. but from what we are seeing at our hospital, they like the freedom and being totally in control. they are not dragged kicking and screaming anywhere. At the clinic, they are usually doing the report before the patient is out the door, sometimes even during the interview they are already pointing and clicking and selecting. They can see it on the screen as they go, glance at it about as quickly as they ever glanced at transcriptions' reports, sign, and it's done.

OOOHH. Big announcement today, join us. For what? DocQscribe just renamed? Forgive me if I am not excited, sounds like a disappointing regift to me. In fact, it is probably better they change it to Fluency or whatever because on my new MM computer sent for the upgrade to DocQscribe 7 they spelled the program as DoQscribe. No kidding. DQS is driving me crazy today. When I push the pedal, it takes a couple seconds to start playing. If I let off the pedal, it keeps going for a couple seconds and I can't get it to stop. The typing I am doing does not keep up with my finger speed either, with words not showing up until after I've typed them. I use my own computer and have never encountered this issue before. It is a major hindrance though, slowing me down. What's next? ...
