My line count is 3854.3 LPH. See Message - Oldtimer

Posted: Mar 21, 2013

Just logged in to type my one report this hour and my statistics show my line count is 3,854.3 lines per hour, mouse clicks 64.6 per hour.  Man, I should be making a TON of money!!!!  So another MModal program bites the dust.  LOL.

Does anyone else feel some QA people are ridiculously picky? Give me a break. Some of the corrections I get back are totally ridiculous and have no bearing on the content.

QA - MTtoo

[ In Reply To ..]
They need to justify their existence! Horrible company M*M and the QA only goes to show you how horrible, not mention the higher ups!

Justify their existence? - sm

Just so you know, the QA at MM are called MMEs. An MME does QA work, MT work, and ME work. some go through mounds of ILP garbage every day and would just rather type or edit again. I was told by an old CCM (whether it is true or not) that MM wants everybody to eventually become an MME as they can do a larger variety of work. When the axe starts falling, its the lower tier MTs/MEs that will get the chop before an MME. If there wasn't any QA work to do, they would be typing and editing. They don't need any more reason than you do to be here.
If anything, they'd lay off the higher paid ones. They love - SM

QA - Burns me up!

Oh, don't even get me started with that! These people are on a power trip. No matter what you do or don't do, you're wrong. I hate them!

QTL or MME? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Are you talking about the QA that does your audits (QTL) or the QA that leaves feedback (MME)? I'm an MME and when I leave feedback it is only because the error will get them marked down on an audit when they get one. When I do leave feedback, unless it is an obvious spelling error or omission, I give the location of the rule that I referenced so there is no question. If I can't give a good reason why I marked something as an error, I don't mark it.

For some accounts, we have to be picky. Our work is audited just as much as an MT/ME. Even more so as we type and edit jobs as well as QA. If we neglect to mark something while doing QA and that report is audited, we get in trouble. I was an MT/ME for 5 years at this company and an MME for 2, so I sympathize with those being nitpicked and try to avoid it...unless that error will get a mark during an audit. There is so much hate directed toward MMEs and it is quite tiring, especially since it is a generalized hate. Not all MMEs are power hungry. Many just want a fellow US MT/ME to know mistakes that will be marked on an audit. (When I do ILP work, I could care less, honestly, and don't leave feedback.) If you think an MME made an error and can prove it, please let your QTL/CCM know. There are cruddy MMEs out there and they should be called out.

We don't want to see mistakes as it slows us down and we get paid less. Many MMEs, including myself, took a paycut in this "promotion."

It just makes me sad to see coworkers ripping up another coworker when they are just trying to do their job and are under the same silly rules and scrutiny as they are. We are all stuck in this stinky job, all getting the same shaft.

Good thing MMEs don't complain about MT work on here - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Imagine the feathers flying in this little hen house if a group of MMEs came on here generalizing all the MTs from all the incompetence they see on a day-to-day basis.

We all make mistakes; it's how you handle them that makes the difference.
You know why you don't see that? - Different shoes
[ In Reply To ..]
It's because an MME knows what it's like to be an MT. They know what it feels like to have their work torn to shreds by poorly-trained or overly-picky MMEs/QA.

On the other hand, many of the MTs on here have no idea what it's like to be an MME and therefore have no problems belittling them and making them all feel like garbage.

MMEs complaing - MTME
[ In Reply To ..]
It is one thing to make a correction; a valid correction, but to nit-pick like they do is ridiculous. Again, unless you have put in the wrong medication or dose or procedure or lab value, that's one thing, but if it doesn't impact patient care or the outcome, why destroy the MTs with endless corrections. Does it really matter in the scheme of things? I agree with the above, they are horrible. I know I hated the ones I had; I couldn't take it any longer. Now I do transcription and never have a 10th of the probems I had with M*M and lo and behold, NO ONE HAS DIED becuase of me!
It is their job. They get in trouble for not correcting them - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
It doesn't matter if the error is only formatting and doesn't impact patient care. If an MME doesn't correct those errors, they get dinged just like you do. If you have a problem with formatting errors, you need to take it up with your QTL or the client who wants those things fixed. I work for a client that goes through the reports they get back from MM and faxes all the errors back to my CCM and most of them are the nitpicky ones you describe with handwritten corrections all over them by the client.

Any time I fix anything that is formatting/grammar/punctuation, I find the rule in the DQS Standards and Guidelines, the BOS2, the client profile, or the Transcription Style Guide and leave it as feedback.

Do I feel that some of those rules are ridiculous? Absolutely. However, if I don't adhere to those rules my audit scores go down. When I fix those errors on your report, I'm just letting you know that they will be marked on an audit. Otherwise, my feedback means nothing else. It doesn't impact any of your scores and you can take it or leave it.

The MMEs are just trying to do their job the best they know how, just like you are. They have rules they have to follow or they can lose their jobs, just like you do.
Correcting a valid error is 1 thing but - - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I have an MME on my team that will nitpick me to death, upwards of 20 errors per report with changes she "prefers." If that report went through an audit, it would be 100%. I myself am an MME and I ONLY correct a true error. Why she wastes her time doing this when she could fly through my reports and make money is beyond me. (The only reason my reports go through QA is because of a 2-blank rule on 1 of my accounts.) She is such a . I'm so sick of her crap...
Correcting errors - MTtoo
[ In Reply To ..]
If that is the case and it takes all this time and effort to get the reports 100%, then we should be paid hourly and so should the MMEs. It is ridiculous what it has become. I have transcribed for a long time and used to work in a hospital and we never, ever had to deal with this kind of thing. I am not saying we weren't QA'd, but within reason. These MTSOs are the worst. I would never again work for a big company, like MM, Nuance, etc. I work for a mid size to small company and do clinic notes and no ESLs and no voice and it is absolutely wonderful and if I QA something, it gets fixed if they can and I get it back and I move on. None of this garbage, like my job is hanging in the balance, because I left out a comma! I actually had a "critical error: for mistakingly putting an instead of a or an a instead of an. Can't remember which. When I sawy that, I quit on the spot and moved on and never looked back. I am just sorry I told my CCM I was quitting. She didn't even contact me. What a devil's workshop that place is. I hate it to this day and it has been three years since I left.
Valid Error - CoMT
[ In Reply To ..]
I agree 1000th percent with what you say and such a is a kind term if you ask me. Again, so out of control and making all the MTs just miserable and I don't have any sympathy for the MMEs, they took that position and I do feel they go overboard regardless of themselves being monitored, which is not every report they correct anyway. You can't tell me they can't see who has experience and knows what they are doing and who doesn't. Again, power and control, no matter how nit picky it may be.
Please stop generalizing - MME
[ In Reply To ..]
There are some QA-nazis out there just as there are horrible MTs. Would you like it if I went around saying that all you MTs are stupid and don't know how to do your job because of a few who can't cut it?

I work my butt off making sure that every error I find has a reference that I can cite and I leave that for the MT to see. If an MT asks me a question, I try to answer it as best I can. I don't nitpick on comas unless they change the meaning of the sentence, and even then, I just put it in there without a marker.

To be called power hungry and being disrespected because of a few cranky old MMEs is hurtful and insulting.

Every MT does things differently and should be considered an individual. The same goes with an MME.
point well taken QA - bb
[ In Reply To ..]
Here is the problem I had with MM: I had a couple of reports come back with QA feedback that were 100% incorrect. The MME incorrectly took my transcribed text and told me to NOT ever do that again. They, QA, were absolutely 1000% in the wrong and I 1000% in the right. Obviously, they did not check the CP for that particular account, which was a particular issue when account started. I emailed my QC about it, but obviously she was tooo busy and did not notify the MME. Then, it happened again and QA notified me to NOT do that again, they not realizing their own mistake or checking with CP. This was a very particular issue with med trans dept at said hospital, but somebody failed to remind the MMEs on this, hahahaha. In the end, they can tell who made the original transcription and who made the mistake. I am so glad I found a better job after 28 years as an MT. I just feel sorry for these MMEs who feel they are queens and kings who have power over us, when they are probably half my age and know half of what I do. I just wanted to vent about my experience with this bad MME. Of course, not all of them, because you are really supposed to know your stuff.
It's because they keep promoting inexperienced - sm

MTs who have never QA'd before. This is what you get.
its nitpicking.Changing "is" to "was" or taking - out "is" that is dictated.
[ In Reply To ..]
putting in words they think they hear and is not the word you hear or your TSM hears, yet the QAC puts it in so it is right. And when you question it, bring it to the TSM's attention, the results for you are not pretty.
if the doc says is, why not just put is? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
It's not fun and it's time consuming having to fix things like that, but if that's what the doc says, then that's what it's supposed to be. Say you've got an op report dictated all in past tense and the MT is just putting down is or was, whatever he or she feels like or whatever SR happened to put there, is that the right thing to do?

VR Line Count - What Kind Of Line Production Should I Shoot For
Mar 24, 2011

I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. The company I will be working for wants a minimum of 10,000 lines in a payperiod which the lady said even with part time ...

Character Count/line Count
Feb 23, 2011

Is this correct? I type 70,000 characters a day. I am paid by the 65 character line so I would divide 70,000 by 65 to get 1076, then multiple that by pay per line, say $.10 and get $107. If this is not correct then what is the formula? And what is the average number of lines per day? Thanks so much for the info. ...
