Merry Christmas to all! MModal, take note on - how to treat employees

Not even a card or word or wish or acknowledgement from my MModal supervisor or QA coach or management. Not a word that I even existed as I work on this holiday for their company.

On the other hand, I work a retail position part time. MModal take note. It didn't cost them much in either money or time. This company had the class to send a real card not an e-card to my home (that was hand signed by every member of management), had a small box of cookies and seasonal coffee for every one of us yesterday and this morning I got a lovely quick call from my direct supervisor to wish me a Merry Christmas, to thank me for everything I do for the company and that she "hoped to be a supervisor you would be proud to have" in the new year. She already is.

So dear list friends, know I am thinking of you and wish you the best the holiday season has to offer and hoping that the New Year is full of hope and joy!

Im just hoping our new year is filled with a paycheck - and a job out of this disaster

I USED TO work for them, quit after a year post-buying out the company I worked for during the previous 13 years. I had to have major surgery and NOT ONE word from my supervisor or anyone else...how are you, hope everything is going okay. All I got was a lot of runaround and paperwork that I had to have my doctor and myself fill out to "prove" I really had surgery, and this paperwork showed up 2 weeks post-surgery when it was very difficult for me to get around and have everything filled out and notarized by a certain date so I might have a job to come back to. How does a company like this expect any kind of loyalty from its employees? At least they could send out a mass email wishing a happy holiday, thanks for working on the major Christmas holiday instead of spending it with your family. It would be a cold day in H*** before I would work the Indian holiday so they could have the day off. Where are they during our holiday? I will look for another job after the new year, but not in this industry any longer.

I posted the original post on this thread and it has been bothering me. I had a similar experience as well to the poster who had major surgery. I too only heard from my supervisor about when could I get back to work and quickly fill out and notarize this paperwork to prove you were really on your death bed.

A thought suddenly came to me. It appears that the majority of MTs out there have not heard from their supervisors/management on this holiday or during devastating life events. I find it hard to believe that MModal went out of its way to hire or could come up with an interview question that could identify potential supervisors who don't have basic human kindness about the employees in their care. So my next thought was that perhaps MModal has drained the humanity out the supervisors as well as the MTs. So although at first I was disappointed in my supervisors, now I want to express my wishes that perhaps they too can recover some dignity and self worth in the New Year!

My CCM sends out Christmas greetings and now that she knows me better, she is pretty responsive to emails. However, when my brother died earlier this year, her response to me was so clipped and unfeeling that I will never forget it no matter how many cheery notes I get from her now.

Just said bereavement is for full time employees and I don't get any more time off (all my time off is unpaid anyway).(I had titled my email "bereveament" for want of a better word.)

At least a mass email. I'll bet his crew got bonuses. Amy didn't even remember us either.

For the last quarter I remember they had large profits- Much of it due to sending our work offshore.

Even though I am unable to find a position as an MT again (laid off two years ago), even a little acknowledgement for those still working on this holiday should be made by those MTSOs. They work you as slaves and have no appreciation for what you do. Anyway, I certainly appreciate what MTs in the United States are doing and wish them a happy holiday and Happy New Year@

Just got a peek at next pay, the first with the new pay scale. I was astounded to see the pay was the highest I have seen in years! Of all the MQ employees here scheduled to work on Saturdays, has anyone been approved to have off Christmas Day? I put in my request exactly 60 days ahead of time (since we can't do it before that) and have yet to hear anything. Does anyone know if Christmas is actually on Sunday at Webmedx this year (last year it was on Friday instead of Saturday so the office staff could get the holiday time off)?
