M-Modal Meeting for DSG Transition - hmm

Well, I see MQ is still touting the fact that we can produce more with ASR. Some things never change. If I had had notice that DSG was selling out from under us, I'd have started seriously looking for another job a long time ago. Not to mention 3 cpl less for QA submissions over 5%. Same ol' place I left all those years ago that I swore i wouldn't go back to. Actually, I didn't, I was just sort of "put" there. Have choices, though, and have my pokers in a few non-MT fires.

I cannot imaging finally breaking free from this place only to be forced into coming back.

To me, the only thing worse would be throwing up, being forced to swallow that back down, and throwing it up again.

How discouraging and heartbreaking that is. When I was deciding to leave the Q I looked in to DSG. However, at the time I decided to stay put. Guess it's just as well, as I can't imagine going through all that stress and worry again. I did leave the Q, and unfortunately, the MT field entirely. I miss being an MT, but I would live in fear of something like what has happened to folks like yourself happening to any place I did get hired. Can't take it again, and maybe next time I wouldn't have the good fortune/skills to hit the ground running. Best of luck to you!

I wanted to ask about half-way through if I could have another glas of kool-aid please.

So many of the negative aspect were glossed over. Most of us are just plain not that stupid.

No one makes us stay there. Change may not be easy ...
but it's not their fault if it turns out to be like before when so many of us worked there and hated it, and we then choose to stay.

I will transition and do the absolute best job I can.. .while I look elsewhere, not in the MT field. I just can't do it anymore.

I got the answers I wanted and couldn't take any more of the party line, plus the fact that people can't seem to figure out how to mute their phones. I love babies, but I don't need to hear one on a business call. I did think it was telling that some of the people from MModal who were supposed to be in on the call evidently just didn't bother.

How does one make the transition over to acute care with no acute care experience. All the jobs I see want acute care. I fully understand that. For those of you who worked for a hospital department that went to an MTSO, how long did the transition take? We received the notice the beginning of 11/10 and they're still not fully transitioned. The first MTSO was swallowed up by a 2nd MTSO. It's possible by Sept we'll be on Powerscribe and then my job will end. P-scribe was not supposed to be the platform in the first place either. I came across this idea when looking for ideas to branch out from doing MT. A local technical school in my area offers a certification degree for a respiratory therapist. In doing some research, this doesn't sound that bad. You basically work with patient's who have trouble breathing, asthma, COPD, etc. Learn how to use all the oxygen breathing equipment and such, learn how to respond to a patient who might be coding and give proper airway support. Hi, I currently work full-time at a University Hospital in Iowa in the Department of OB/GYN and have been transcribing in this department for 8 years.
