This is nothing new, they started it when I was with Webmedx before Nuance buyout. some hospitals, and especially radiology departments, have gone to complete front-end editng,no MTs involved. I am applying for other jobs and am getting training to get out of MT.

I have seen some of these front-end reports and a lot are awful - sm

The doctors also train these to continue making the same mistakes over and over again and once they are signed there is no fixing the report only addendum can be added.

The hospital I worked could not get the doctors to edit their reports. - a real mess

The doctors might as well have typed the report. They wanted the MTs back, but the hospital was not going to give up on something they had spent so much money on.

Like Obama or not, this new healthcare mess and poor economy has doctors and hospitals running scared. They are looking to save money however they can. To them we are secretaries and are replaceable by voice rec. Technology, is running us out. Unfortunately, we know what will happen, critical mistakes, but they don't seem to grasp it. Time to find a new line of work, we are not long for the world. My GP carries a laptop into the visit and stares at that the whole time, I really hate it, but seems to be the wave of the future

Unless I missed something, no one has said if there were specific regions where many MTs were laid off. Perhaps MM is going about this region by region. I know this board is consumed right now about the layoffs but I have question. HAD to call Support yesterday and today, and was told that I cannot change my password in Ipswitch. Think I will get the proverbial axe on Monday or Tuesday - Tuesday should be the first day of my new pay period according to my schedule. I was laid off April 4th. Supervisor was sorry she had to make the call as there was no problem with my work. The layoffs seem to be posts from Evelyn, Liz, Donna, Sue, Lee, Ruth, Pegge, Ginger and so on. Another post stated she talked to her TSM and it was all rumors.
