I applied with the Q about a year ago and was offered a position, got my paperwork, etc. I was fully hired and assigned to a SA, had my account information, and MQ was just awaiting receipt of my paperwork to send out my equipment.
Another offer came up, which I accepted, and contacted MQ to tell them something had come up and I was unable to accept the position they had offered at that time.
The recruiter was very nice and told me to contact them if my situation changed and they were certain they had no doubt they would have another suitable position for me and thanked me, etc.
Well, here I sit a year later and am finding I could use the extra income of a part-time position. Although I read the MQ board on a near-daily basis and see what some of my fellow MTs at the Q are going through, part-time gigs are difficult to find right now and I'm wondering...
Would I be totally insane to contact the recruitment line and tell them I am now in a position to accept a position and see what happens? I went to the apply online website and it gave me a status code and a number to call to speak to my recruiter. Would they really hold an applicant's information like that in order to be prepared to offer a position? Of course, I guess since I was hired, would that technically make me an "employee" in their eyes on some level, meaning that I've been tested and everything already (haha, inda like a head of beef already approved for slaughter???).
Anyway, what's the WORST that could happen if they immediately place me on a part-time account? I definitely need the money and PRESUMABLY they would at leaset initially place me on an account that actually has work.
Should I run the other way and patiently await something else, or should I go ahead and accept something from MQ? I'm only looking for part-time so I don't feel TOO vulnerable if it turns out to be a huge mistake.
Advice, ladies? Is it too much caffeine on a Saturday night causing me to be delusional, or should I, in your honest opinion, give the Q a shot?
TIA!!!
