You are misinformed. DocQScribe is an excellent format to work on BUT it counts in a way that will shock you. AND can change from day to day, minute to minute. The program that is used to control it is called DocQMANAGE. In DocQManage are things you will not believe. You might have access to PART of DocQManage, but not ALL OF IT. They assign a divisor which can mean that you are TOLD that you are paid on a 65 character line, but will not be. There are so many options in there for line counting that it would make you sick, enough to sink a ship. One person might actually be getting paid fairly, but others are just as likely to not be paid fairly. IT IS A JOKE AND HAS TOTALLY CHANGED PEOPLE'S LIVES. Something has to change.

I found it by searching archives and I put in the words "medquist counting lines" and came across it. It was at very top of the archives. I believe it was from 2007. Let me know.

True, happened to me at different MTSO. But Q, open payroll - version in DQM and start counting. SM

No problems that I can see and I saw plenty at my old MTSO. It is very easy to see if you are being cheated and I have not found proof of it yet working for Q. P.S. that previous post might even be from me when I was working at the other MTSO, now bought out.

There are all kind of minus (-) signs after certain numbers which to me it seems they are not counting. They are counted in the report but then deducted at the end. The same for headers, not sure if we are being paid for it. Back around 1999 before they turned over to docqscribe I had a question about a report where it looked like I barely got paid for anything and it happened to have a tremendous amount of lab values on it and I had called my sup up then and was told we do not get paid for numbers. So I just question some things in that payroll count file.

Just take the time to actually count the lines/character etc - Then compare to what is on the SM

bottom of the payroll file. Take a little time to do this. I did and count actually came out MORE than what I figured. I also keep track of job# and, since I am MME, whether is was blank qa, 100% qa, ASR, or ST. Next step for me is to get someone to tell explain my check. This is what it takes to KNOW how you are paid. If it is not worth the effort, in your opinion, dont come here stating we are being cheated. If it is not worth a little effort for you to figure out how you are paid, you deserve to get what you get, right or wrong.

to find out what I am being paid. Like I said before in so many words it comes out accurately until I scroll down to the bottom. Been here long enough to know tomatoes from potatoes. As for the paycheck. If you have no problem with the payroll count file then you should have no problems with YOUR paycheck then.

Lots can happen between payroll file and what is on check. - That is why I want to know for sure. nm

forthcoming in how you are paid. You shouldn't have to go through all of those steps to find out. Of course, what I just said obviously is not going to happen, but why be so "harsh" to other MTs. You should be "harsh" to the company, not your fellow MTs.

Have you asked to have pay broke down? Bet if you did, they would - explain it to you. Again, instigating. nm

pay. Some are even okay with working for MTSO that requires you to lie on timesheet. Bothers me greatly that my sista MTs think that sort of behavior is all they deserve. And bothers me more that they work at a place they think is cheating them but they dont bother to find out if that is true. And then they post their fears here, with no proof, just adding to the worries of others.

for instance, all headers including or not including brackets and whether they are in the header box provided or were added by the dictator that was not in the header box, any headers in the headings panel that we pull into the report or that are manually transcribed that are not in the headers panel, all numbers throughout the report? Just one fellow MT reaching out to another. Please be kind :)

Look at contract. then open payroll doc & start counting. - It is simple really, just takes some SM

effort. You will understand better if you do this yourself. And then you will know. But check contract, it will spell out what you get paid for, or ask payroll. Then run count on a document yourself and if it doesnt seem to add up right, contact payroll again. And again and again if you need to. Just familiarize yourself with the payroll document, it is really just simple addition. We get paid based on the first document in the system. If MT, the document you process. If Editor, the OS document put in by OS. For editors, we do not get paid for additions made when you replace a qa marker with text. On the other hand, any words the OS MT put in the document, that you need to remove, you still get paid for those. Editing pays on that first docuement, if it is holey, you get paid based on the holey docuement regardless of how many markers you filled in.

Mistake of working for friend doing subcontracting. I am paid 13 cpl but very hard to hear doctor; it's on tape, takes forever to type. My job is transitioning to from straight transcription to speech recognition. This is what is being offered: 0.045 per line A line is defined as 2 edited lines = 1 regular MT typing line of 65 characters So in summary, 1. My cents per line is going to be cut in half going to SR editing. 2. The edited lines is also being cut in half because it takes 2 edited lines to equal 1 transcribed line. Does this sound right? Recently found out that two Chicagoland hospitals who outsourced to Nuance are paying them a whopping 15 to 15.5 cents per line for VR. With this being an almost virtual world now and very little overhead, it is a terrible injustice for Nuance to pay their MTs only a fraction/peanuts of what they are getting paid.
