Im reading through emails,,and WOW whoopie do...we are doing this this and this and NOW we are calling it this..Big freaking deal, I dont know who made this ASR program and whose doing happy dances over it, but it darn sure wasnt someone that ever transcribed a report..Proven fact, it doesnt work, not when you dont have the same transcriptionists on the same accounts (and even that is barely acceptable)...This NEW wonderful 7.1 is a disaster,, since when is the patient is a heading??? Never in my career..And the 2 syllabal words are mostly separated now...Ive made a shortcut for neuro surgeon cause I am tired of fixing it..

If you care MMODAL, then fix what we are sending in...Dont make headings, its easier for me to create them then un-create them..And no your new fixed 7.1 is not better, it is a train wreck...just saying..ok off to work for min wage again...At least Im not wasting gas money to and from work, thats always a plus...

Come on, the highlight usage (Ctrl Shift G), I DONT USE IT BECAUSE I HAVE TO STOP AFTER EVER OTHER WORD TO FIX, SO I AM WASTING KEYSTROKES TURNING IT ON!!

We already think in another language, trying to remember the shortcuts we make, which all have to be different for ASR also...Now we have a million different key combinations to make ASR easier,,Really?? and because you send out an email saying how great it is, THAT is going to make me feel better? To reply, absolutely they can be that idiotic. We just recently switched from 7.0 to 7.1. Those videos kept "highly recommending" using the Ctrl-G and audio highlight together. I was already having to use the Ctrl-G on 7.0 because of the glitch where it would not allow scrolling, but you are correct it is a waste of keystrokes off and on and off and on 10 times in a sentence. Then you add the audio highlight to it and all it does for me is trigger my migraines watching that bouncing blue and gray across the screen. So tell me Mmodal, is it more productive to have me out for a day with a fullblown migraine or just not use the Ctrl-G feature? And do I really care about proficiency stats? No. Do I care about a comp plan that was promised in early summer? You bet.

Davenport knows exactly what are problems are. If they will cost him money, then he could care less. After all, he has to oversee that new 18,000 sq ft office in Raleigh, NC, because he and his buddies don't feel like showing up in Franklin, TN.

I flunked 2 of them - Old MT

I flunked on the cursor/highlight one (don't use that at all), and I flunked on the deleting word to left or right of cursor. I automatically highlight words, because RARELY is there just 1 word that needs to be deleted. Why delete one word at a time, when I can highlight them all in one chunk and then delete them and start fresh.

They don't realize that we are revamping things, not just editing here and there.

I've been in the business for 15 years, and have my resumes out doing NON-MT work. They'll be happy to see me go, even though I have high audit scores, do all the specialties, including the ones in acute care, and all the accents, and all with a very low QA submission rate. Why will they be happy? I don't know, but obviously, it's what they want.

I also flunked the part about speeding up the audio. Most of these jobs need too much stopping and starting for editing purposes, so speeding it up (with the exception of very few dictators) is not an option on a first-run.

It's faster to make our OWN shortcuts than to try - to memorize this ever-changing mess!

I don't use any of their so-called shortcuts. For me, they're the long, roundabout way of transcribing!

Either way, we're hosed. If we use the shortcuts and our work falls off, they say we're too slow, or learning-challenged. If we don't use the shortcuts, regardless of how fast we can go without them, they'll still tell us we're too slow, because we don't use the shortcuts.

Please. Just fire me, already, so I can get my UE. And place that first phone call to the lawyers in Illinois regarding a few years' worth of back overtime pay I never got.

actually faster if you type the report instead of editing with VR? I have found that sometimes if I type the report myself from scratch, but leave the "speech edited" report at the bottom for reference, I am actually faster. So, even though I am not making as much per line as I would for a straight typing account, for some jobs (and some days), I make more by completely typing the job myself. I know exactly the company you are talking about and have wondered the same thing. The person who wrote the rules must not have a full understanding of the VR program. At this company, we are supposed to adhere to the account specifics to a T if we type on the account, but if we get a VR job on that same account we are supposed to ignore the account specifics and leave it as VR puts it unless there are blatant errors. I have been unemployed for about a year now. MQ took over my hospital and thus the entire transcription department was eliminated. Even the union could not keep this monster out. About 15 of us lost our careers. I have looked into several positions and cannot find any company that will pay me even 80% of what I am taking home on unemployment benefits!!!
