Yet another change in taking more money away from me! Now, (for one of the accounts I work on) if the dictating physician dictates a titled header, i.e. Pulmonary Consultation, I can no longer type this into the report, thereby eliminating me getting paid for it. YET..I still must use my time (taking away from production) to insert that information in an Optional Field in the ADT. This, I'm told, is mandatory, but I don't get paid for it. I am literally sick to my stomach, and yes, I am actively looking for other employment. This has gone beyond ridiculous, and believe me, I am documenting every single Mandatory Requirement communication that takes away from my pay for future reference. UI and TAA sounds like a beautiful thing. I truly want to get out of this field altogether. Let the offshore have at it. That seems to be what Congress, Legislature, whatever the powers that be want. Okay, great. Train me in the new Green World then and let me earn a decent living in this country I live in, the USA.

I have been feeling exactly the same way. Never, never any good news that will really help us produce more. Always, always something new that takes away. When is the last time any change actually benefited us? This company is eating away at my health. And I am trying to find a new career.

MQ now dominates the industry and calls the shots. No longer able to make a living doing this. Very sad but true. Praying every day to find a new career that can put my husband and I back on track financially, a career that I can feel good about and not feel opressed every day.

I do not work for MQ but I do work for an MTSO that is supposed to be the bees knees so to speak. It is not as bad as most of the MTSOs out there, but I too am looking for another line of work. I already work 6 days a week with only Sunday off. I am also working "overtime" up to but not over 40 hours a week, and after taxes and insurance just for me (adding hubby would quadruple my rates!!!) I am making $5/hr. If I do manage to get the minimum line count requirements (which I'm not even close to working 40 hours a week) I would make about $8/hr. I am sick of the politics and their platform and VR and 1000 other things that would not fit on here :-( I have applied to over 30 jobs in any line of work that does not involve bartending, gas station, or stripping. I applied to jobs I am "over" or "under" qualified for just to get out of MT. I'm sick of having to retype most of a VR report that had to be TYPED but only getting paid the VR rate! Double and triple line counts my A@@. I feel you both.

Well I don't have much to add to your post except that I understand and agree wholeheartedly.

I have applied for untold number of MT jobs and don't get courtesy of a reply. Tested for one company and "failed" the test which I could not believe. Not bragging but I've been doing this for almost 30 years, won awards for quality, college degree with honors, etc. and yet not a response ?? go figure ...
Anyway, the lack of job offers, accompanied with the despicable treatment from this company, has forced me to forget MT FOREVER. My real hope is that when they fire me, I can have some peace of mind ... collecting UI (as much as I make working) and taking advantage of TAA program to train for a new line of work.

I was sick when I got that e-mail too. I fired off an e-mail to my CCM - the reply: "What can I say. This is a very valuable account and this is how they want it done. I can't imagine you would have very many report titles to do in a day anyway" - HELLO - just about every one has a report title. As I told her, it may only amount to a couple of dollars a day - BUT THAT SHOULD BE MY MONEY!

Do you remember the e-mail we got about quality and how these accounts were PULLED from overseas due to the amount of blanks? If the folks overseas can't understand their own kind, how are we supposed to? I was happy working here until I got put on these accounts and my income dropped over 40%, my frustration went up 200% and now my bills are behind. I told the CCM there is simply NO WAY these accounts are money makers and asked to be switched to another region but nothing has happened yet.

I thought about sending an email to the CCM too, but realized what a futile effort it would be. The managers do basically nothing for the MT/MEs anymore, they are strictly for the client. What I am considering though is drafting an email to corporate on how unscrupulous it is to make us do all these nonpaid clerical duties. It shouldn't even be legal. I'm not really sure if the client is benefiting on cost reduction, or if MQ executives are pocketing the bennies, but either way, what they're doing is asking/telling us to do something for free, and that is not right. All of that ADT information should be handled on-site by someone who is paid to do it, instead of passing the buck to people who are already struggling to maintain a living. The entire infrastructure is just wrong! I'm sure MQ corporate would not think too highly of me for such an email. I might even get fired. But in that case, I'm thinking the Labor Board might see the situation in a different light. I'm just that sickened by all the crap and feel positive if enough people would stand up to it, another solution might be sought.

I'm pretty sure I'm pretty high on the list of people my CCM would like to get rid of. I send her e-mails regularly - sent 1 today, about things that I believe are unfair or impossible for us to do. She does respond - her last response to this was that it was an important client and what is she supposed to do. So I've pretty much decided all that sending an e-mail to the CCM is going to do is make her dislike me and possibly not approve PTO requests. I will suffer in silence from now on since she cannot do anything about anything anyway. I don't see how this could be a legal practice either. We are only paid by production but are forced to use time to type things that aren't considered production.

mumbling, disinterested sounding support people I have talked to. I had one argue with me once, telling me it was my monitor not working instead of my PC being dead, after I told her that I had already tried a different monitor. I wanted to crawl through the phone and choke her out.

I have my resume ready to look for other jobs, but I am seriously scared of jumping out of the pan into the fire.

It is illegal for MQ to have its MTs typing things they are not being paid for. One of these days someone will take them to the Labor Board and then we will see. Perhaps they are not as big and tough as they think they are. Remember the old saying, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Looking For A Company With No ASR And All USA

I have over 30 years in this field and it seems that a lot of companies are either cutting the MT's pay to edit on ASR and/or are offshoring work out to India, Pakistan, Philippines, etc.  I don't believe in sending our jobs overseas, and I've also given ASR at whirl (a long whirl lol) and I still couldn't increase my lines per hour to compensate for the cut in pay that I had to take by doing ASR.  So what I'm looking for is a company that does not do ASR, do ...

Reading the company board has been an experience with all the negativity, but everyone has different experiences with a company and entitled to their opinion. My question is what do people look for in a company in the current market? How do you know if a company is a good fit for you? The company I work for hired me as full time 1000 lines with benefits.  3 months later they changed their policies to 1200 lines anything under no benefits.  Also we can not work over 40 hours.  How can they pay me by line but then tell me how many hours I can work?  I don't work hourly.  I love transcription but I've been with 2 companies in the last year and can't meet all their requirements to get benefits.  Is this normal?  I used to work fo ...

Would you be able to perform at that level?  I'm sure there are some of you that say you consistently produce 100% quality and at least 400 lines an hour.  I'm not talking to you.  How about the regular MTs out there?  Are there any companies that require this?  Is it even attainable with the subjective nature of this job?  How about if all of your accounts are ESLs and your pay gets docked if you send more than 1 document a day to the QA department?  ...

Well, it seems as if the outsource bug has hit again. I don't know how my hospital transcription department managed to stay intact for so many years but we are officially being given the boot in 2 weeks. Anyways, if you are looking for another company to switch to, Mediscribes (based out of Louisville, KY) is taking over but their pay really sucks; hence, why I am not taking the job. It is no different than our company.  We need better working conditions and raises.  Found out there are many MTs in this company and we all are not making the same pay.  Some are even higher pay.  I was grandfathered in and had to make the same pay as a newbie.  I keep asking Amy why??  Of course I get no answer, but found out today all MTs are clearly not making the same pay.  Also why should higher ups not get grandfathered in pay like the rest of us.  ...
