How is System Time added up? - Spouse of Harried Transcriptionist

Posted: Jul 11, 2012

Dear MT got a review complaining about several things, but the mystery one is "System time is 5 hrs longer than time clock time" and words like "bad because it makes it look like you are working off-the-clock".

Okay... how do you stop the 'system time' clock?  Stop typing?  Does the clock stop when you upload, start when you download? Stop if you leave Docqscribe? Stop if you step out for a Google/email/look up a reference? Stop only if you log out of everything?

She was indeed working off the clock: when a job goes way over her Plan stopping time, she adjusts the punch time back to an earlier time, trying to get her lines/hour up.

If she can trim all the little excess system times, maybe she can keep on working "over" without it being so obvious...

You must be logged into both Teamwork and DQS - when working. If not, get fired.

[ In Reply To ..]
There is no way to adjust the DQS clock. As soon as you log on it is calculated and only shuts off when you log out.

It is not allowed to work while not being punched in, and I hope your wife (or whatever) stops doing it or she will be fired.

...I'm not making accusations. That being said, when one purposefully adjusts things to make something look different, it's called time-clock fraud. A far more serious offense than just not getting ones lines in. It's not just an MModal thing, "regular" companies have the same rules.

NOW, if one accidentally doesn't punch it, this can be fixed, but it needs to match up with the DQS times. Allowance IS made for taking short jaunts to get a glass of water, use the restroom, etc. Five hours would be "working off the clock."

Husband - Alias

If you're the same husband who gets on here a lot about her work, there are times I've thought you know a lot about the jobs she's doing. Not only would she be committing timecard fraud by changing her time, but I wonder about HIPAA violation if she is letting you see the jobs she's doing. Hope she doesn't get in any legal trouble over anything.

HIPAA ok - Spouse of Harried Transcriptionist

She's paranoid about not letting me see the reports.
BUT she IS a computer-phobe, and uses me heavily to navigate and learn all the craziness !!
why dont you get a job and leave her work to her - little controlling?
[ In Reply To ..]
I cannot imaging my husband going on a chat board and chatting with people about my work. Sounds like the poor woman has you hovering over her shoulder. Why not go get a job and let her do her own thing?
Totally agree. - These posts are so annoying.

Helping wife - Spouse of Harried Transcriptionist
[ In Reply To ..]
It's pretty simple. I'm retired, she is not. She is supporting us, adding to our meager SocSec. We are in our late 70's.
She is computer-phobic, like a deer in the headlights when she took the DQ7 course.
I am here not to chat but to get straight on some of the concepts that are holding her back. She unfortunately is convinced that if she asks her CCM too many questions she will be fired.

And maybe she would...

My dear mother in law is a computer phobe too and I totally understand the deer in the headlights comment. Bless your heart for braving the waters of the chat boards to help your wife. My husband has always been my biggest support. Sent you an email. Ask away.
This is kind of you both. I have to admit (sm) - crank

...there's days when my husband is the only thing keeping me from walking off into the sunset. Husband, I feel for you and your wife. My mother's not much older than you two, and I can just see her trying to figure out this nonsense.

correcting punched time - mt

[ In Reply To ..]
Just wanted to mention that if you forget to punch in when you start working, you must do so after you leave docQscribe. If you correct it while still in docQscribe, it will not stick and your punch time won't match system time.

5 hours is a lot - Drone

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't like the timeclock either, but working off the clock for 5 hours is gonna show up and they are not gonna like it.

Maybe if you just leave her alone she can get some work done. - See msg

[ In Reply To ..]
The time you spend hanging around cuts into her work time. Whether you recognize it or not, unless you are OUT OF THE HOUSE while she is working, you are slowing her down. It does not take much to interfere with productivity.

I think she is not paranoid enough about HIPAA. What neither of you seem to realize is that it isn't just the patient's name and SSN that are the problem. It is the ENTIRE REPORT, including the identity of the doctor, the hospital, the disease, the dates, and everything else. You're able to post this stuff on the internet, so you know too much.

Frankly, I think M*Modal ought to look up all your posts, figure out who you two are, and fire your wife for allowing you to have anything to do with her computer. Before a client fires M*Modal for it.

You sound like a controlling, domineering, lazy and probably unemployable loser. Get a job.

Chill! - some/people/sure/are rude

[ In Reply To ..]
What is wrong with a husband trying to help out a computer illiterate wife? Shees, some people that post on here really need to take a chill pill. It is sad that an honest person asking a simple honest question gets chewed out by people who think they are smarter and above everyone else. Thank you to those of you willing to email privately with "husband of harried spouse" and give them some support.

little known secret - just trying to help

Anything over a 10% variance between the 2 systems will throw up a red flag.

Most CCMs tell you to try to time breaks between jobs so you can punch out of both systems. Never leave a job up on the screen and walk away if you can help it. The clock for DocQscribe starts when you log in and stops when you log off no matter if you are researching or not.

Personally I punch out every time I get up from the computer; bathroom breaks, phone calls, etc. Yes, it is a longer shift, but it is actually accurate time of when I am actually working and my line counts go up without having to work "off the clock." We are allowed a 15-minute leeway on either side of our shifts. I always punch in 15 min early and punch out 15 minutes past and by the end of my shift I have taken 30 minutes of break here and there but have actually worked an entire 8 hours.

If I run short of hours because of longer breaks then I just wait for the RTLs or the CCM to ask for help and work then.

Padding lines and adjusting punches is considered fraud and the company does not take that lightly.

Keystrokes Is Going To A "time Clock" System In August?
Jun 09, 2011

So, have you heard that Keystrokes is going to a "time clock" system in August?  If this really goes through, this may be the straw... I have put up with all the other stuff going on there.  I constantly help out on other accounts as well as getting my own work done.  But, if I have to punch a clock, when I have been able to flex for 4 years, I don't think I'm gonna do it!  First off, there is no way I can sit for 8 hours straight.  I get my work done in 4 hours or so and then ...

Conglomerate Added Approximately 6 New
Oct 04, 2010

That is what I have done most of the morning.  No cheat sheets, nothing in Repository, no prior reports to look at.  Got a surgeon talking 90 miles an hour.  I have about 12 QA markers so far.  Will re-listen to it and try to hear ANYTHING else.  Straight typing -- but all I am doing is giving ASR some reports to go by and then it will be all ASR as the others have been, so I am TRAINING ASR for the account.  I can't send these things through or my behind will ...

Jan 24, 2014

MM ASR stinks royally!!!!! This neurology consultation is so full of made-up output, I just might F11 it (oh goody, I will then get to hear from the QAM). It has added so much 'canned text' and text that matches other information in the report that it is sickening. I can't wait until I am out of here!!! I graduate from paralegal school next Wednesday, and I sure hope I can get a job fast. Hopefully, someone will hire a newbie. Fingers crossed. ...

Horrible Dictators Being Added To SR.
Jun 10, 2014

Let me preface this by saying that I know that ultimately this is what we're here for, to train the systems to understand every dictator.  With that being said, has anyone else noticed that some of the dictators who have been purely straight transcription for years (while all of their colleagues are on speech wreck) are now on speech as well?   These are doctors that without several paragraphs stored in your expander program, there is no way you could understand what they are say ...

Overtime Because Of The Time Clock Time Zone Change?
Feb 06, 2011

It has been inconvenient, and maybe a bit confusing at times, to check my time card hours for my shift as, because of my time zone, part of my hours show up on the next day because I work 2nd shift. I wonder if I will get overtime for yesterday, even though I did not work overtime. I had to start work several hours early because of maintenance, so all hours were completed before the hour my hours start showing up on the next day. Fine. But the last couple hours of yesterday show up as today, ...

Anybody Else's Actual Time Worked Not Match Clocked Time?

Ever since they have changed Schedule Source and now it has a display called today's activity with "actuals" hours, this has not matched the hours shown with the time clock punches and is less than the hours according to the clock punch. MQ Rehire Policy For Part Time To Full Time
Apr 09, 2011

I worked for MQ full time and then went to part time last year, before finally quitting altogether because of health problems. I seem to remember an obscure policy that if you were full time and then went to part time, you could not go back to full time for a period of at least 1 year.  Can anyone verify that for me? IF, and this is a big IF, I were to go back to work for MQ, I would need to be full time. ...
