Former Futurenet - you know what I miss the most?

The ding at the end of the report. I know it's crazy but it was strangely comforting. Ding! you are done! Now sometimes I have to look at the slider (atrocious orange versus comforting Futurenet blue) to be sure I am at the end and not just playing dead silence.

What do my former Futurenet buddies miss?

Do you like Fluency? How is the learning curve and how much has it affected your $$? I'm really not looking forward to it and hoping I will be out of here before I have to deal with it.

well i was not doing SR before moving to Fluency so yes it dramatically decreased my pay - down 5K from 2012 last year

It was too big a pay cut. I liked that FutureNet ding too ;) It signaled you were at the end of the dictation so you knew you hadn't missed anything. I also missed the straight typing. A couple positives when I switched over: My new supervisor, and Fluency is a much better program than FutureNet. No more flipping through pages of client profiles, ADT automatically loads, easy access to samples, and there are many helpful functions and short cuts. When we were training, I was excited to get started on it.

However, VR is not the greatest. Because of numerous profiles, guidelines, and subjective QA preferences, you have to make a lot of changes such as taking things out the doctor dictated, putting in things they hadn't, correcting the dictators' grammar and fixing their verb tenses. There were so many changes that had to be made to the VR output (even though it had actually 'heard' it correctly) that I couldn't see how VR could 'learn'. I now understand why 186 is the average lph. Also, some glitches such as having to go through spellcheck clicking "ignore" on every heading it doesn't recognize, even those that the dictator used every time. In addition to the 20+ primary accounts I had on FutureNet, I was given another group of facilities I had never done before, yet only had a week to learn all the profiles and get up to 99.6% accuracy. After a week, if you send more than 5% to QA, even if it is just questions because you are new to the accounts, your pay is cut by 3 cpl. QA was so nitpicky and contradictory, I found myself making more 'real' errors, which was extremely frustrating and stressful. For example, my "error" feedback included a job where every comma in the past medical history was replaced with semicolons by QA. Finally, doing all this but getting paid minimum wage was the deal-breaker, and I had to give my notice.

finally figured out how to stop it and was happy as heck..Been at this a long time, now the hanging up the phone and the dial tones are killing me..have terrible ringing

Not sure what is up with them. They have several ads again but there is absolutely no work for us long timers. Suspect they are hiring newbies and paying less to get the work done. BTW, do not ever expect an increase in line rate. You will NEVER get one. Also do not expect to attain those bonuses they talk about in the ads - they have now made it impossiible to reach that level by maknig work unavailable, once you get close to making the bonus you can expect to see no work available ...

Wondering if anyone on here uses FutureNet (possibly the glitchiest, most annoying transcription software ever created). I use it at work. When I started using it, it seemed to have a pretty good medical dictionary in it -- recognized all the medical terminology and almost all of the drugs, so I ASSUMED that all that was included. So now we have a newbie, and when SHE uses FutureNet, it marks every single drug as an error (red wavy line), as well as all the medical terms. I'm to ...

I recently went back there part-time to supplement my day job after quitting because I got real tired of the highly fluctuating work flows. My husband really pushed me to do this because we needed the extra money. Once again, there is never any work for me to do, and yet they are hiring again? Saying they need 2nd and 3rd shift? That's what I do. I'm not even going to bother trying to talk to them about it, because I already tried that and got nothing back ...

Picking up from a thread earlier this month that is buried. Does anyone have any knowledge as to what is going on with this company? Many of their accounts always had limited work. FN has again posted an ad for editors/speech rec people to work on M-Modal. It appears that people are leaving due to this platform. FN does not appear to have acquired new accounts. See post below about the M-Modal platform and this company. This used to be a good company to work for. It's the platform that is just terrible and impossible to make a living wage when using it.
