FutureNet and no work available - anon

Picking up from a thread earlier this month that is buried. Does anyone have any knowledge as to what is going on with this company? Many of their accounts always had limited work. For at least a month, even the biggest accounts have had very low report counts. Has the traditional transcription gone over to the VR side? But the VR side is also low on work. I have only noted job ads for VR in recent months. You are required to give the company a set schedule that includes a weekend shift and minimum lines per pay period, although you are an IC. With no work in the pool, I don't know how people can be meeting minimums, let alone making a decent living.

I figured it is just the nature of the business. Always happens. I am barely able to get my minimum in and luckily have other work to supplement the slow times.

Look at the dictators you are getting if you are transcribing. Same dictators you were getting earlier in the year? Missing a lot of dictators? Only getting a lot of the same dictators that are mumblers or probably cannot go to VR? My guess is the work is going over to VR.

This would explain the ads for VR people. It could also explain lower work volumes on the transcription side.

My question is: Would it not be in the company's best interest to have the transcriptionists move over to VR on those accounts?

After watching this for over 2 weeks now - my opinion is that it is just slow. I do VR and the numbers have dropped off sharply - so straight MT is not coming over to our side. I believe certain doctors are always going to be typed and the easier ones are on VR and if they do not do well - they can go back to straight typing - have seen it happen. I am trying to remain positive - I think it is the time of year - spring - we had Easter, Mother's Day, we have proms and graduations - the residents are changing - less elective procedures less of everything and it trickles down. I also have MT friends who are low on work - and if some of our part-timers are short on work at other places - they would naturally draw more from us - and we would be even lower. So - crazy as that sounds - I do think the work will be back. Also, they just moved - you don't up and move your entire operation if accounts are in jeopardy and you are worried about things - I am hanging in there - and hope you do too!

This sounds like typical staff or management excuses for low work situations. People don't get sick when the calendar denotes a holiday? Or because it's prom season, graduation season, time for a family picnic? Seriously? The only historical time that most institutions slow down is Thanksgiving weekend and the week between Christmas and New Year's, when physicians try to send people home to be with their families. However, those holidays also mean large meals and that leads to CHF and drunks. Hence, hospital admissions.

See, sickness takes no holiday.

For what it's work, the lack of work at FutureNet has now been well over four to five weeks, inclusive of their larger accounts, not just the usual accounts that often were slim on work. Any more theories?

Here's mine, and this is just IMHO, either the work has gone over to the VR side, FutureNet is sharing the accounts with other MTSOs, or the accounts are using more than one MTSO to do their work and not using FutureNet exclusively (happens all the time, no matter what the contract may say).

No matter what the reason, for a very long time, if you did all work types and had multiple accounts, you could usually obtain enough work for whatever you needed for a paycheck from FutureNet. People have indicated in the past that they could not. The stats show it's impossible recently.

Not sure what is up with them. They have several ads again but there is absolutely no work for us long timers. Suspect they are hiring newbies and paying less to get the work done. BTW, do not ever expect an increase in line rate. You will NEVER get one. Also do not expect to attain those bonuses they talk about in the ads - they have now made it impossiible to reach that level by maknig work unavailable, once you get close to making the bonus you can expect to see no work available ...

Wondering if anyone on here uses FutureNet (possibly the glitchiest, most annoying transcription software ever created). I use it at work. When I started using it, it seemed to have a pretty good medical dictionary in it -- recognized all the medical terminology and almost all of the drugs, so I ASSUMED that all that was included. I recently went back there part-time to supplement my day job after quitting because I got real tired of the highly fluctuating work flows. My husband really pushed me to do this because we needed the extra money. Once again, there is never any work for me to do, and yet they are hiring again? Saying they need 2nd and 3rd shift? Does anyone know if the position FutureNet is hiring for is for an oncology account or acute care? I would like to apply but not sure I am qualified. I'm looking for hem/onc job. FN has again posted an ad for editors/speech rec people to work on M-Modal. It appears that people are leaving due to this platform. FN does not appear to have acquired new accounts. See post below about the M-Modal platform and this company. This used to be a good company to work for. It's the platform that is just terrible and impossible to make a living wage when using it.
