Company thinking of switching to M*Modal...any comments from those who have used this program, yay, nay...any comments are greatly appreciated.

the platform is actually pretty good. The VR is very bad but if you only have a few dictators using it, it would probably be better.

If your empolyer decides to go with MModal software, they better be prepared to have the license yanked out from under them after a year or 2 so that their hand will be forced to sell out the company to MModal.

Efficient and user friendly. You can move from the demographic screen into the report with ease. Some platforms can be a tad slow with that and uploading but Fluency moves rather smoothly with no delay time whatsoever. You can use hot keys to move through the demographic screen fairly quickly and even toggle back pretty quick if you forget something while in the report. You can set your screen to show client specs in the side panel while editing reports or keep it hidden and use hot keys to bring them up in side panel when needed. Lots of neat functions. I could name more, but its past my bedtime. Its a very good platform though, probably the best out there right now.!

with skewed line counting/pay methods, really p-poor speech recognition so you only get garbage on the screen, and so many other multiple things wrong with the company itself that the program 'benefits' such as they may be will not matter at all.

Read this board carefully and see if this company and its "user friendly" program is right for you.

there are other MTSOs that use the fluency platform and do rather well with it, hospitals too. I loved it when I worked for MM and had no problems with my line counts. Simply left for a better job outside of MT.

One of my friends still works there and she does fairly well and is a top producer. I haven't heard any complaints from her since I left.

Yes! The Fluency platform is awesome. - ASR is a COMPLETELY separate thing.

I think a lot of people are confused by this. The Fluency platform USES an ASR engine. Fluency does not = ASR. The Fluency for Transcription Editor program is extremely efficient and user friendly. The ASR behind the text output is not so good, but for me the platform and its features totally make up for the poor ASR.

Has anyone used PowerScribe by Nuance and M*Modal? If so, how do they match up as far as VR and user friendlly.

What you're not told is command keys you must learn are over 100 hot keys or whatever you wish to call them; they monitor your inactivity time the moment you clock on and log into Fluency down to the second; style guide and other guides are well over 20 pages long, some more than 50 pages long; you will not work on 1, 2 or even just 3 accounts; and now the M-Modal geeks have added even more "FREE" work to their demographic/ADT side of the platform, with some accounts having as many as 20+ items on the drop list to insert for free, i.e., referring physician, surgeon, co-surgeon, assistant, anesthesiologist, and so on; the platform also shows them commands keys you are "NOT" using and need to learn to use. So, it just boils down to the fact of whether or not you want to work at your own pace, their pace and their partial free work, constant emails, feedback for small things such as taking all the blame because of lazy dictators lacking in information but you should automatically know what to put or you are a surgeon and know what they mean, audio is not so great if that client does not want to spend the money to upgrade to better equipment; in other words, don't think you're going to clock in online, log into Fluency, do your job, log off, because they monitor every single step/move you make down to the last minute of inactivity. Grant you that there are some queenies that are special or think they are special, refuse to work weekends ever, and expect your schedule to be changed at least 4, if not 5 times per year. One month, need more during the week. The next month, need more during weekends. I doubt it's any different elsewhere, but just keep in mind.....YOU ARE BEING MONITORED UNDER A MICROSCOPE and they know your EVERY move.

I've been tentatively offered a FT nanny position for a dear friend of mine who would pay me cash to take care of her baby, either my house or hers (we live 5 miles apart). I have always worked for local hospitals and doctor's offices.  I have never worked through a company, but with most of our local area switching to VR I am having to look to companies for work.  In our local area our transcriptionists usually are paid about 12 cents per line,  but I am noticing most companies pay is substantially lower as i saw an ad for Sten Tel paying only 5-6 cpl.   Could anyone tell me what the norm is for pay with companies?  Thanks for all help. ...


Switching To The New Program EBeyondTXT

With switching to the new program eBeyondTXT I am not noticing much difference from before with the old program.  It takes just as long to download a job and half the time I am getting the spinning circle showing the slowness of the program. Chartscript Font Switching?

I'm working on an account that uses Chartscript, and something fairly bizarre is happening to my notes.  When I submit the jobs they are in Times New Roman font, I'm double-checking to make sure that's the case, but at some point after submission they are switching to Arial!  I have no clue why it's happening, apparently it's not only me, but is happening to some others, but not everyone.  Does anyone have any idea why, or what I can do about it?  ...

Dictaphone Switching Between Headset And Handset Problem

When I am using my Dictaphone listening through the headset sometimes the audio switches away from the headset and sounds like it is coming through the handset. If the room is quiet I can still just so hear it. Then it switches back to the headset. I thought they were 2 different services.  Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows.  All the small companies have been merged I guess.  I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR.  Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...
