Audio automatically going to end - anybody?

Posted: Nov 15, 2012

I just started my shift and the first 2 jobs I've downloaded the audio goes all the way to the end the minute I press the footpedal.  I had to abandon both jobs.  I shut down my computer and it did the same thing.  Anybody else ever experience that?

audio - maybe

Whenever that happens to me, it is because it really is an empty report, and just needs to go to the end like if it really does have audio on it. Did you know for sure there really was audio on it?

yes - .

[ In Reply To ..]
There was audio. In fact when I said OK to get into the report, the entire report was highlighted, like if I would press delete the entire report would be gone. Tried a different footpedal.

Thanks.

Same thing happened to me with my first report. - nm

Exact opposite for me earlier - anon

I would get halfway through reports and it would go back to beginning. These were straight typing because the dictator was so hideous and sound quality so bad, so it was a lot harder to find the place in the audio where I was.

Going back to beginning of report - hate that

That happens to me when I double click on a word. I didn't realize how much I used that until we "upgraded" to this fabulous new DocQscribe.

Is There A Way For A Document To Automatically Scroll As You Type
Nov 18, 2013

Don't know if that is a possible feature in MS Word.  I'm typing a document and it doesn't scroll.  Next thing I know I'm looking down at the bottom of my monitor then using the mouse to move it up. Wonder if there is a feature and if anyone know how to do it so that document will scroll up as I'm typing so I will always be looking directly in front of me. ...

Macro To Automatically Correct Numbered List
Dec 09, 2012

Hey guys, this is for all the editscript users or people who can't use the auto list function in word.  This macro will run through a list that looks like this: 2.  cat. 9.  dog 10. bird. 2.  fish. and corrects the numbers to look like this: 1.  cat. 2.  dog. 3.  bird. 4.  fish.   It stops after the list so nothing else gets changed.    To use it, create an empty macro and assign a hot key.  Then go in to edit the macr ...

Emdat Inscribe - Adjust How Much The Dictation Automatically Rewinds
Jul 11, 2012

Hi, Just learning this platform now..  Is there a way to adjust how much the dictation automatically rewinds when you press the foot pedal?  It's too much now.  I printed out the manual and went through the tutorial but I don't remember what they said about this.  What do you all think about the Inscribe platform?  I'm used to something very different, so it seems like a challenge to me. Audio
Aug 10, 2010

I am a "newbie."   I have tested for 2 small companies and the audio was so bad I just couldn't hear enough to transcribe.  Are all dictations this bad, or is it just some of them?   The parts I could understand were fairly simple, but the audio sounded like a tape recorder when you are holding down rewind and play at the same time.  I am just curious.  Maybe my hearing is just not what it should be.   Appreciate any response, ...

Pay For Audio
Apr 27, 2012

in contacting a general transcription company for work, I was told "a one-on-one interview, 60 - 90 minute tapes, generally generates $40-$45 per tape."  does this seem like a low figure??  I don't know much about these types of dictations. They said most transcriptionists complete one 60 to 90 minute tape per day.  so how long do you think it would take to complete 90 minutes of two people interview and is $45 too low for that type of work??  just asking.  ...

Pay Per Hour Of Audio
Apr 22, 2010

I'm looking at a job that pays 50-55 dollars per recorded hour of audio.  This is interview or straight dictation transcription.  Does this sound okay?  I'm thinking if it takes me 2 hours to transcribe an hour, that wouldn't be such a bad deal.  I'm just not sure how long it would take me.  I do transcribe very fast...shortcuts are used for medical but can implement for this type of transcription as well.  Just not sure that the pay is reasonabl ...

Pay Per Audio Hour
Dec 15, 2011

How long does it take to transcribe 1 audio hour of dictation?  When I started, I was told we should average it as 10 minutes per every hour, but 10 minutes seems low to me now.  It would probably take me about 20 minutes to do a 10 minute job today, with proofing and looking up words, etc.  Then again, if you are learning something new, that might not be so unrealistic.  Just looking for opinions on this from those who have done it.  Keep in mind, I would be doing non-m ...

Terrible Audio
Aug 18, 2013

I have been having exceptionally bad audio lately from normally good dictators and wonder why. Could this be another cost cutting measure somehow, or maybe they okayed docs to dictate under water or in their car or wherever on old crappy cell phones or something? It's bad enough to have to face the daily FIESA attack, but to take double the time to get through a report because of horrific audio is just the icing on the cake. Anybody else find this? Frustrating when you are trying to speed ...
