Yes! I had a stat report and it took me over an hour to do because the sound kept going in/out, and the jerky movement, etc. you described. I am about to scream.

We were having some problems in my group and were told to do this: When in a speech recognition report, go to Tools then Options, Audio and make sure the box for "accelerate silence playback" is unchecked. Hope this helps.

The keystroke combination of the Control key and the semicolon key (Ctrl ;) will toggle it on and off without going through all of those steps. You can tell if it's on or off based on if it's red or green at the top of your screen.
Can anyone tell me how to change the playback on the DQS audio? Right now I'm getting a playback of about 3 or 4 words, and it's more of a hindrance than a help.

Does anybody know what the keyboard shortcuts are to stop and start audio playback in DQS?
I know I have done it by accident before, and it keeps playing, unlike if you use the foot pedan where you have to hold it down the whole time. I have never liked having to hold the pedal down. I was used to Express Scribe, where you can tap to start and stop and don't have to keep your foot pressed down. Now I am standing up some of the time while working to avoid s ...
Does this happen to anyone else - your footpedal stops working in the middle of a note and you have to use the keyboard commands to finish playing the audio, you upload the job and the footpedal may work for the next note or may not. Frustrating. Not as good with the keyboard commands for audio. I have shut down and restarted and that will help for a while. Called IT and of course, they say my footpedal is fine and to shut down if it happens then log back in. Its ri ...
At times, all of a sudden the playback will go back to the beginning. Very frustrating as I then have to find my place again.
Is this is a problem for others - or am I accidentally hitting some key combination? ...
you know this accelerated playback thing we were told to disable? anyone else experiencing that with this thing off it takes way longer to get through editing a job? another way they've figured out how to get us to make less money? dying here.
i was reading some of the other posts where they were saying they used to get 50,000/year doing transcription. Holy Moly!! the most i ever got, after 20 years of employment at the same hospital was abou ...
I have some .wav files I need to load into Express Scribe for a potential placement with a company for school. They will not play in windows media player, or Express Scribe. In ES it says "Opening audio file failed." After this I even downloaded other .wav files for school and they work and play just fine. I am totally at a loss as to why these particular files won't play. Another student said they are working fine for her. Any ideas? ...
I keep getting e-mails that I am not using this shortcut while editing in 7.1. I don't understand how it works (I've tried) and how is it helpful? Seems like unnecessary keystrokes to me. Anybody using it who cares to explain it? TIA ...
I wanted to know if anybody is using Express Scribe. If so, what settings are you using under the Playback tab. I am having a hard time listening to the doctors that I dictate for and the practice files I have to do for school (haven't passed my final yet).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks ...
Apparently, and I did not know this since I have not used it in a long time, it is no longer free to use with a footpedal. I know I can play it back in Windows Media, but again, I cannot control it and it takes to long to transcribe anything. ...
I have racked my brain trying to figure this out and it's driving me nuts. When I let up off the foot pedal the dictation goes back too far. Anybody out there know? Please help. ...
Is anyone having else having problems with the QA feedback playback control panel?? ? Since around the end of June, my playback control panel is no longer stationary or fixed to the bottom of the window so that I could use it easily to playback, start and stop audio to listen to corrections. It now is fixed to the bottom of the text and scrolls out of view if I'm at the top of the report. Also list of corrections on the right also is no longer fixed to the screen and scrol ...
I had no problems wit the objectiv questions but when I tried to use the keyboard controls or foot pedal to transcribe the sample reports, wouldn't work, even after I downloaded their footpedal software from Career Step. ...
I downloaded the free trial of ES on my computer which runs Windows 7. For some reason I CANNOT figure out how to create a playback time, the time when I lift my foot off the play pad and put it back on, and still hear some of what I JUST heard. You know what I mean. I have tried changing the numbers of what I think are the correct "playback controls," but to no avail. Will someone help me, please?
TIA! ...
One of my clients has a DVD of a meeting he would like transcribed. Does anyone know of software that he or I can use to convert it to an audio file? I normally use Express Scribe to transcribe their work. Does anyone have experience in this or know of a preferably free software program that can do this? Thank you. ...
I am a "newbie." I have tested for 2 small companies and the audio was so bad I just couldn't hear enough to transcribe. Are all dictations this bad, or is it just some of them? The parts I could understand were fairly simple, but the audio sounded like a tape recorder when you are holding down rewind and play at the same time. I am just curious. Maybe my hearing is just not what it should be. Appreciate any response, ...
I put this on wrong board before. Here it is Sun/Mon and I am getting DQS to load jobs, but can get NO AUDIO on them at all. Thought it was the headphones MQ sent us as a gift last year, so changed to my Bose stereo headphones. I can get audio on anything else, just not DQS. Give us a BREAK MQ, please I want to work..!!!! ...
in contacting a general transcription company for work, I was told "a one-on-one interview, 60 - 90 minute tapes, generally generates $40-$45 per tape."
does this seem like a low figure?? I don't know much about these types of dictations. They said most transcriptionists complete one 60 to 90 minute tape per day. so how long do you think it would take to complete 90 minutes of two people interview and is $45 too low for that type of work?? just asking. ...
Has anyone heard of pay at 0.16 per audio minute for medical transcription? They told me I could make at least $10 an hour or more at this rate. This seems impossible to me... What do you think? ...
Doesn't it just seem wrong when you can hear the neighboring doctor's dictation better than you can YOUR dictator? Do they just hand the phone across the way and say "would you hold this for me?" ...
I'm looking at a job that pays 50-55 dollars per recorded hour of audio. This is interview or straight dictation transcription. Does this sound okay? I'm thinking if it takes me 2 hours to transcribe an hour, that wouldn't be such a bad deal. I'm just not sure how long it would take me. I do transcribe very fast...shortcuts are used for medical but can implement for this type of transcription as well. Just not sure that the pay is reasonabl ...
How long does it take to transcribe 1 audio hour of dictation? When I started, I was told we should average it as 10 minutes per every hour, but 10 minutes seems low to me now. It would probably take me about 20 minutes to do a 10 minute job today, with proofing and looking up words, etc. Then again, if you are learning something new, that might not be so unrealistic. Just looking for opinions on this from those who have done it. Keep in mind, I would be doing non-m ...
Offered 6 cpl (65-char) for general audio (movies and television shows). Is this good or bad? I thought audio transcription was usually paid per audio hour. I've only done MT for 20+ years, so this is new to me.
Thanks for any input/advice!

I am just wondering about what $50 per audio hour of dictation would amount to approximately. I am no good at these things, but I suspect it is low. Just an average would be good. tia. ...
