Annual report - kittykat

Posted: Aug 16, 2011

I noticed in the annual report they have 100 sales reps.  That is a waste of money for them on the payroll.  It seems they are supposed to generate more work.  That's a lot of people not doing their job, or when they do get new accounts I guess they go directly overseas.

With all their overhead, I wonder what the hospitals pay - sm

Wouldn't it be cheaper for the hospital to hire a handful of ICs? I mean, with MQ's new insurance costs, its cheaper now to go private, which I've been doing. Or even going with a smaller transcription service that doesn't have all the nonessential fluff that MQ has.

Yes, it probably would be cheaper for the facilities to go with IC's.

Another thought. I talked to my CCM a few months ago and she said she works at least 16 hours a day. Now you know that is not straight hours. I guess it is okay for them to jump on whenever, but let us try it. Rules for some. And I do not believe from one report that an MT in India can make 18,000+ a year. A few years ago I know for a fact that they were working for 2 cents a line and happy to get it. Go figure.

Some thoughts - MT

OK so here are some things to take into account. I had worked at a hospital as an inhouse transcriptionist and it was THE HOSPITAL that decided to send our work to Medquist. Not Medquist. The hospital went to Medquist over inhouse because they saved money.

As far as CCMs go they DO NOT GET OVERTIME. They are on a salary. They work long hard hours to keep the accounts that you work on. Yes work is going global but that also is the facilities decision as they want to cut their expenses.

The facilities do not want to go with ICs because they do not have anyone there anymore to farm out the work, etc. Hospitals today are cutting costs because they are experiencing cuts just like everyone else is.

Interesting Things In The Annual Report To Shareholders.....
Dec 07, 2009

What I found of particular interest was on the first page (letter to shareholders) where it says that a shortage of domestic MTs is one of the reasons they need to offshore.  ???? To me this doesn't make sense if so many of their employees are saying they consistently have no work.  If there were such a shortage, no one would be complaining of this.    If you are curious as to the salaries and bonuses of the big whigs of this company, it's listed in this pamphlet. ...

Annual Salary

I am currently making $34,000 a year as an MT.  I am a single mom raising 2 kids on my own.  I am curious if anyone is making more than that as an MT.  I want to set a goal for myself to make more in the range of $40,000 to $45,000.  Am I being unrealistic?  Can it be done? ...

Synernet Annual Bonus
Mar 13, 2014

With all the changes coming down the pike, I'm just wondering if the annual bonus has become extinct along with things like the 401K automatic 3% contribution.  I'm thinking it was about the first of March when they announced the annual bonus and this year not a peep.   If it was coming this year you would think they would announce it sooner than later; that would be a blip of positivity in the midst of all the current turmoil.  Maybe they figure a lot of people are ...
