ASR program - dimstar

Posted: May 06, 2012

The abbreviation "q.d." is listed as one of the dangerous abbreviations and we are not supposed to use it, ever.  Yet when someone dictates the word "daily" in a report, ASR routinely substitutes "q.d." in its place.  This is just wrong and has to be corrected manually.

they wont fix it, programmers are stupid - you can...

[ In Reply To ..]
create a shortcut to fix it. There is so much the programmers are supposed to fix and never do. Its crazy!

makes ya wonder why they programmers dont need the - boost initiative, hey?

[ In Reply To ..]
:)

Makes me wonder why MTSOs don't make them do their job... - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
MTSOs pay/lease, i.e., SPEND MONEY to use these VR programs. Why in the world don't they make THEM be responsible for the way it is supposed to work? Instead, they demand that we as MTs fix the deficits and, as a result, literally pay for it out of own salary (think of it, the more mistakes THEIR program makes, the more money we lose in a paycheck. It is crazy!) I don't get it. How do they think this will be acceptable and won't result in experienced MTs leaving in droves for the few good companies left, different careers, etc.? I just don't see how a successful company could see in any way that this will work in the long run for them. They'll end up completely off-shoring, with that inherent risk/downfall, or hiring newbies who don't have the love of the job we do, but are just happy to work at home. Huge difference in a critically important field.

does that with h.s. too. We are suppose to use - nightly or at bedtime.

[ In Reply To ..]
I have shortcuts for my abbreviations like that, but sucks when there is a long medication list and every one of them has q.d. or h.s.

No feedback mechanism - dimstar

[ In Reply To ..]
I realize it's no big deal, but I wonder why the ASR programmers, whoever they are, do not check the list of Dangerous Abbreviations before using them in place of the correctly dictated word or phrase. There should be some kind of feedback loop mechanism back to the programmers, but there apparently is not.

Feedback mechanism is suppose to be us - reporting it but

[ In Reply To ..]
dont think they follow-up on those reports like they're suppose to because the same stuff just keeps coming back.

q.h.s. is only dangerous on AAMT list, not JCAHO - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I have several accounts who do not use AAMT dangerous list and only use JCAHO list, so I have to leave q.h.s. in the report.

q.h.s. is acceptable, just not q.d. Even q. daily is acceptable. - nm

q. daily?? does not make sense..think about it - "every daily." dont think so.

[ In Reply To ..]
nm
I change q.daily to just daily - when ASR inserts it

HATE THE Q
Meant q. day. - NM

per day, not q, day, do not mix English and Latin - just me

May not be preferred, but it is acceptable. - Bottom line. NM

Read your new style guide they sent out h.s. the way - I read it is now ok

[ In Reply To ..]
still use nightly but it is no longer on the dangerous abbreviation list..It was so nice of them to send out the guide with A LOT of changes and not mention there are any changes...

my sentiments exactly - slave wages

[ In Reply To ..]
It's the MModal way, make changes and let everyone learn the hard way. But you are right h.s. q.h.s. is now acceptable. It just doesn't address q.d. at all.

go to "find" and "replace" q.d. with daily - It is a pain, but at least

[ In Reply To ..]
it replaces them all at one time instead of having to do each one manually. That is what I do.

Thank You!! never thought of that, been doing it - the manual way. Thanks!

[ In Reply To ..]
What other fabulous tips do you have? I know thats a "no brainer" but I never thought about doing it that way.

Plus once you do it the first time in a day, the - info stays there until you

[ In Reply To ..]
change it. Next time, you hit "find" and it already has q.d. to daily there and you just hit "change all." Don't have to reinvent the wheel with every report. Now that I have pointed that out, they will probably change it :)
Good to know, best info I've gotten all day. - nm

You're right - dimstar

Yes, I sometimes remember to do that, especially after I run across a couple of instances.

New Incentive Program.....
Mar 15, 2010

I like how they try to make this seem great.  It's probably no better or worse than we were before with the monthly incentives.  When I got that email that said "line rate change" I really thought it was another pay cut. I tried to figure how much the increase would be.  I figured that the raise would give me 7 cents more per hour or about 56 cents a day? That can't be correct, although considering who we are dealing with.....maybe it is?  How do you figure exactl ...
