prn transcription ohio - tiredtranscriptionist

Anyone else out there working for prn out of ohio?  If so, how is your work load and what do you think of the recent changes?  I've been with them for a very long time and have worked 24/7/365 for them.  I'm just frustrated as the work has disappeared yet within the last two months they posted for job positions and apparently have overhired.

Might as well be doing factory work.  Would at least know how much I was goiing to make and be able to live on some kind of a budget.  This is crazy.........

I worked for PRN Transcription for little over a year. I quit about a month ago due to lack of work. When I started, for the first couple of months there was tons of work. After Thanksgiving until early March there were fewer than 20 jobs in the queue at any given time. There was little to no communication. When I questioned about the lack of work, I would get a snarky answer or get a generic answer like "the weather is bad and people aren't seeing the doctor." It did pick up over the summer but then dwindled again around the end of August. I had enough and moved on.

where did you move on to?

I am working for a couple of doctors locally. I pick up their tapes and drop them off. It is an okay alternative, but I get paid when they feel like paying me, once a month.

I've been considering sending out flyers, making phone calls, visiting medical offices or something like that I live in a fairly populated area again. Would you mind telling how you got your individual docs?

Also what is the going rate these days...last time I had my own ortho doc was 2000 and it was 10 cpl gross line. He spent two years trying to get Dragon Dictate going and dump me, then finally gave up, but let all his office staff go and just does surgeries at a hospital now. I'm happy to hear there are some docs going the old-fashioned route!

I have been with PRN for several years as well and love working for them but I am really upset about this. I have been reassured that being put in more pools would mean I "shouldn't run out of work" but that hasn't been the case at all. And the email that just went out saying that the work should stay steady or start to grow has not been true either - there's been a marked decrease in work volume this week - and last week had a holiday! I don't want to try to find additional work with another company, but I'm going to have to if it doesn't pick up.

With them too..what I don't get their website says they gave all these hospitals docs ofcs military accounts. Where is the work? Doesn't make sense.

Ive been snapped at too. And production incentives? Gotta get the lines first.

Dangle the carrot..

any work in your pool today?

Just saying, I know we all need to make a paycheck and I have no problem being fair about the work but this set up is so stressful. first come first serve. sitting around glued to the office and computer

Just set us up so that we know who we are working with and let us figure it out. Oh, but that would be letting us having a little bit of say in things. they need to have a little faith in us.

Not until after 9. At one point I had up to 14 in the pool, but now I've been out for the last hour.

I've always loved the pool jobs because until last week there was always enough to go around, but now we've been reduced to hungry sharks in the ocean waiting for chum to be thrown in. If you don't hit the button the second you see that one measly job pop in, you're screwed.

I mean, MTs don't work for the fun of it. And I can't make ends meet if my line counts continue where they are right now. This is the first billing period in which I'm actually kind of panicking.

I wish there was more communication. I feel like that last email left me with more questions than answers.

Same here and the files I had probably didn't add up to 20 minutes of work. There has to be work somewhere. I wonder where it is. I find it hard to believe that Everything disappeared on 12/01. Spreading it way too thin.

[ In Reply To ..]
If some major change really did occur on Dec. 1 where the work was going to suddenly disappear, they need to have the integrity to let the MTs know up front about that. I understand it sucks as a business owner to have to tell people who rely on you for their living that they're going to be pretty much out of a job, but I'd rather know what's going on even if it's bad news than be kept in the dark. This is not cool.

[ In Reply To ..]
I do totally agree especially for those of us who have been with them for quite a long time. a little "heads up" and they love to say would have been so nice. So, now nothing?? right at the holidays.....

True, totally not cool.

And now I'm afraid to ask about it as the last time I did, I was told to stop asking.

So what's next

Again I can't believe the work is completely gone and so what is with the level I, II and III transcriptionist labels. I would think that should have some influence on where the work may go.

Stressful, stressful, stressful.........

What is the "level I, II and III transcriptionist labels"? I've never heard of that...
prn - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
That had to do with cpl rate and production incentives. They never told you about that??
p.r.n. - FrustratedMT
[ In Reply To ..]
ah - I do know about the production incentives. Didn't know it was referred to by a name or anything!

He really told you to stop asking about work when you emailed him? That's harsh. I almost sent him an email today. I'm glad I didn't now. :(

It seems to me if they tell you to"stop E-mailing them about the status of work or the accounts," they are hiding something and do not have the integrity to tell the truth that, "yes, the account is in jeopardy" or "no, we do not have work right now."

looks like there is plenty of work in the pool today. My computer is down this morning and should have it fixed by this afternoon. So, you go.

Yes, I have noticed more work in the pool this morning, but most of it seems to be overflow work. I just hope and pray it will be steady all day.

well it's all gone already, at least in my pool

Where could it be going? Just sayin....

They might be doing it in the office or sending it to India. I used to log in at night around 8 p.m., there would be 50 jobs in the pool. By 10 p.m., they were all gone.

To anon2 and frustrated MT ------

thank you for responding and I too am a little relieved that I am not the only one going through this although I know it doesn't make things easier for you two either.

I am actively searching (and I assume you are too) for work. If I find any leads or anything that seems to be worthwhile I will be in touch. Please do the same.

We all have to make a living. I have had to cancel my health insurance, groceries are a challange, and Christmas, well not one this year. BaHumbug

I am not usually so Debbie Downer but am just mentally and physically worn out with this stuff.

It has been a very tough year on many many levels

I just have to say - I don't like what is going on right now, but I'm kind of relieved to see that I'm not the only MT with PRN who is dealing with the sudden disappearance of work. I thought I had done something to make them mad and they gave my work to someone else.

I felt the same way too..... Like I wasn't doing good enough work yet whenever they would let someone else do my primary doctors, when I finally got them back, I heard nothing but complaints such as "is someone else doing my work and what is going on?" My fear is this new format or whatever they want to call it "transparency of work" is going to lower the quality as we are all trying to complete for what is there.

As I said before.....I know we all need a paycheck and I have no problem at all being fair but who can live on $30.00 a day.

Here we are dec 16. Has anyone gotten more work? Are you also having to get up at the very crack of dawn and then wait until late afternoon for work? I feel like we're all fighting over the same "bone" if they want us to work nights please just tell us. My work is less than half their website says they service 100s of accounts and do not outsource. Where is it? Im starving and exhausted. Please someone reply. I need to figure out if they are just squeezing me out. They have been good to me in the past but it is so frustrating with the lack of communication. This has become so sad

Other than brief slowdowns in the morning on Monday/Tuesday, I've been steady with work, especially yesterday. Are you still not getting enough??

Interested to know if anyone currently works for TCI or has worked for them in the past.   From what  I gather, they have a lot of ESLs/fast talkers, give you three days to get off of QA, and if you need to send work to QA after that 3-day period, it should be an almost-never occurrence, as they do not seem to be very tolerable  with sending work to QA. ...
