can anyone out there tell me what kind of differences there are between transcription companies? most important thing i'd like to know - are there any companies out there that actually assign accounts to their transcriptionists, where you're not getting a thousand different dictators a week and you can actually get used to how your docs dictate? i find it very hard to do different stuff all the time. i just can't seem to get used to how the docs speak, and it really slows me down and i end up leaving an awful lot of blanks. are there any companies that understand that if we get a lot of the same dictators we can actually provide higher production and higher quality?

[ In Reply To ..]Mostly clinic work, they will assign you a doctor or two and you transcribe those doctors only. One company that does this is Global Information Systems. The pay for them is only 5 cpl, but if you aren't able to be versatile enough to gain an ear for different accents, then you may just have to accept the lower pay and go with that. Good luck.

[ In Reply To ..]thank you - i'll try them. not so much that i can't develop an ear for accents, but i really do need to get at least some of the same docs every day. getting different ones is killing me. i guess maybe i'm not as good as some others at hearing different mumblings all day - i need to have a chance to get used to them.

[ In Reply To ..]the same 3 SR accounts for almost 2 years. I first had 1, then about 6 months later they added another, then about 6 months after that another. They all have slightly different account specs. That is about the most they'll give 1 person so we become familiar with the dictators and remember the account specs.

I don't see any shift diff on my stub, how do you know if you qualify? I know dumb question right? at one time I was told that since I was "hourly" and tier 3 I was at the highest rate already, but then they changed us to production pay, so shouldn't that mean I qualify for shift diff. Why they don't just do away with it altogether is beyond me; they may as well, it's just an insult to our intelligence. I'd rather just them just say, "sorry, no more bonuses, no more shift diffs." It reminds me of when they did away with the production bonus early last year but replaced it with a "raise" for all of us. Can anyone answer me why is it that these MT companies hire you and they all promise you the sun, moon and stars. Oh we have TONS of work. We guarantee you at least 11 accounts and 2,500 lines a day. The company I work for has gone VR (on most jobs). I cannot make any money doing this. My pay has been cut approximately $150 to $200 every two weeks.
