Used up and burned out! - steph1

Does anyone else ever feel this way?

Lately, I have felt so bored and burned out. I know part of it is because I lost a great account and on boring old rehab and ER reports. Plus, I am in the process of getting out of this altogether and going back to school so my mind is really not here anymore. I just need to figure out how to make myself sit here and pump out the lines to make $$$ until then.

What do the rest of you do when you feel this way?

I tell myself I will sit here for 2 hrs, and even use a timer. Then I get up and do something else. Then I do the 2-hr deal again. That way I get a mental distraction every 2 hours.

After having done acute care, I got some extremely boring stuff like ER and thought I was going to cry from boredom. You can get some good lines on the boring stuff, so try to just think about the money (whatever is left in this biz anyway) and just know you're getting out.

I am so - burned out and bored

it almost makes me vomit to turn on this computer any more, and I hardly make any $$$ doing this any way. At least you have started your escape plan, so keep your eye on that.

What I do... - Mental Games

If I don't want to use a timer, I'll sometimes use tick marks and tell myself I must cross off 10 reports and then I'll take a coffee break. Then, no matter what, I strive for those 10 tick marks. It sometimes helps.

I keep a police scanner on while I'm working so I at least have something interesting to listen to (used to be a dispatcher). I play games with the dictation by trying to guess the diagnosis and treatment including medications. It at least turns the work into somewhat of a game.

I have a feeling of dread at the start of each day. That isn't a good sign is it. But to up my productivity I just strive for 400 lph, check my line count each hour.

I get so bored & sleepy editing VR, I have to literally - O.D. on caffeine daily to stay awake. nm

I have been doing this for 20 years and it has gotten so cut throat and the big transcription companies that have pushed out the smaller ones are to predatory. Every segment of our society has gotten so "corporate" and the technology and offshoring are taking away people's jobs.

Burned

I keep thinking about a thread from a week or so ago about minimum wage and LPH.  I remember I figured out in my state, 150 LPH is minimum wage up to 180 LPH.  Is is really worth it to bust my *** to get 200 LPH, if it only means 20 LPH more?  Does this make sense to anyone?  Is my logic or my calculations flawed?  It seems I would need to do considerably more than 200 to even make it worth my while to even try.  What's the point? ...

Any ideas on how to get out of this, besides calling and quitting? I haven't got any negative feedback in a while, but I get the generic emails you all get about things being done wrong and you need to fix it... But they are nice and put "you are the best!!!" on the bottom o the email. So condescending. I am just so over this mess. ...

Burned Out On Job Applying, Testing Etc.
May 10, 2010

Are there NO decent places out there to work? Just when I see something that looks like what I am seeking and want to apply, all I see is negative posts.  I realize that everyone has their opinion and just because someone does not like it does not mean I would not etc. BUT, there are always more than one negative opinion, and all cases that I chose to ignore warnings, I walked right into the nightmare, just like they said I would. Seriously, is ANYONE happy where they work? Please tel ...
