I see or hear someone say, "have went" instead of "have gone." I've started hearing that a lot in the past few years. At first I thought it was a regional grammatical error from having moved to a small town in recent years, but lately I've even been hearing it a lot on TV. Oh, that's another chalk board grating: When "a lot" is put as "alot." Those are the only two obvious errors that really bother me though.

Here's my fingers on a chalkboard: Went missing. Huh? Something new in the past decade. They didn't go missing they just are missing, period. Even the "journalists" use it.

I can't stand seeing the posts like ur gr8, cant w8, ic u l8r, i no. Before everyone jumps on me for being unreasonable, I do realize it's to save characters, but even on certain boards and blogs they use it. It's like it's starting to be acceptable to use anywhere. The one that bugs me the most is "gunma." I gunma, as in I'm going to. I can understand gunna or gonna, but gunma??? Like fingernails on a chalk board to me. lol

Prolly. "I am prolly gunma go," is prolly my most upsetting stupid-sounding grating phrase; however, that said, I used to probably absolutely kill my folks with "groovy." It's a whole new world, a whole new world. :0)

these abbreviations are horrible and so are the stuff like LOL, etc. How hard is it to just type a word. I do it all day long! Also, kids are writing papers in school using these abbreviations, so I agree!

What sounds like fingernails to me is the Gain detergent commercial currently airing. The announcer says something like "...morning have never been "gooder." Really? Who let that one pass quality control?

when someone types 'they have an effusion in the spine' instead of 'a fusion in the spine' just drives me crazy. It is impossible to have an effusion in your spine, so even if not clearly stated and the doctor slurs the words, it is FUSION!

It is so very frustrating! I type for a wound care clinic, and, of course, a great deal of the patients there are diabetic, as am I. About a year ago I learned from my diabetic teacher that a local supermarket chain pharmacy offers all diabetic supplies and meds for free, whether you are insured or not. You see it periodically, OB, radiology, and something else but it's pretty clear the work will be OB. The test consists of 3 files (getting this from the ad) and you should finish it in less than 2 hours. 3 files? How long are the files? So, my real question is (the other two were thiinking out loud), does this ad get run periodically to clear out the backlog or is it really a legit job and why does it come up so often? It's not the exact same ad everytime ...

I tried the swap yesterday. I put in to give up my shift on Friday, 4-9 as doing the Relay for Life walk that evening. It appeared to take as I had RECLAIM next to my shift instead of SWAP but when I went in today, it said SWAP again. It looked the same as it did before I put in to swap.
