It is so very frustrating! I type for a wound care clinic, and, of course, a great deal of the patients there are diabetic, as am I. About a year ago I learned from my diabetic teacher that a local supermarket chain pharmacy offers all diabetic supplies and meds for free, whether you are insured or not.
At least once every couple of weeks I type a note in which the doctor says the patient hasn't been able to afford his/her diabetes medication or insulin, and they seem to have no clue at the wound care center that this supermarket does this for people! It kills me, thinking that there are people all over our local area who don't know about this! I didn't even know, either, as my doctor didn't know. I didn't find out until I went to diabetic teaching. I wish I could contact the wound care clinic and tell them, but I don't know if I would be crossing a line.
PS: I'm an independent contractor and I work at home for a whole organization of hospitals, of which the wound care center is one department, so it's not like I can just walk up to the boss and say, Hey, I heard . . . .
What do you people think? Would I make a fool of myself? Put my job in jeopardy? Or might they be glad to have that info?
