Radiology testing - RadMT

Posted: Oct 06, 2011

I'm a Radiology/Cardiology MT for MedQuist.  I'd like to test for other companies (can't take anymore BS from the Q) but when I try to, the tests are "General Medicine", even when the job posted is for Radiology.  Does anyone know how to test for Radiology or Cardiology?

Recently I took a test with a company for radiology but General Medicine was listed. I stopped and contacted them before going forward. I was told that there are parts of medicine I should know and that there would also be radiology on the test. I went back, took the test (I'm actually trained in all areas of MT) and she was right, there were grammar questions, anatomy questions, etc and then there were radiology questions and the transcription portion was all radiology.

So you might want to contact the company and make sure you are connecting to the right page and if you are, maybe expect that to do radiology (and cardiology) you have to have some general medical knowledge.

Good luck!!

I had that happen once, and I contacted them and they sent me a link - NCMT

You might want to try that. Good luck in your search! Just for today, I am still happy at the Q - but as we all know, that is subject to change.

Thanks guys for the info - I'll try that. - RadMT

@NCMT - I've been with them a long time, been through many changes, but cutting my pay was pretty much the last straw. Don't know if I can make more elsewhere but after not getting a raise for 5 years, not matching our 401K in about that long, so much time with no work (unpaid time off), a shedevil for a boss and slashing my pay, my loyalty is gone.

Radiology Pay?
Nov 11, 2009

I have been working acute care for the last 5 years and getting paid by the line.  I haven't done radiology in a few years, and when I was working in radiology I always got paid by the hour.  Now a local hospital is interested in my helping them out on the weekends with their radiology backlog, and are wanting to pay by report, but I have no idea what the average pay per report should be.  Can someone give some idea as to what I should be asking for?  Thanks ...

What's So Different About Radiology?
Jul 27, 2013

I'm wondering why radiology seems to be its own separate entity in the MT world.  It seems like if you know radiology, they'll bend over backwards to hire you.  I've done radiology before, just as part of my regular MT pool.  I don't get what's so "special" about it.  Does it have it's own quirky platform or something? ...

Anyone Know Going Rate Of Radiology MT?

I realize it varies depending on where you live - but not by that much, I think.  I applied at a local hospital in June and this morning got an email message that there was opening in the Rad Department for MT.  I went ahead and sent my electronic application.   No guarantee I'll even called for interview much less get the job, but I'm curious if the hospitals tend to pay by the hour or by page, etc.    The benefits are incredible and that is the rea ...

Question For Radiology MTs
