At first I was speeding up the dictation but found that it was impossible to correct while listening to the voice. My trainer encourages us to correct and listen at the same time. However, when speeding up the voice, that become impossible and I have to stop the dictation to make the corrections. So, just out of curiosity, what do you do??...do you speed it up and stop every time you make a correction or do you correct while keeping the dictation going? ...and What is more helpful in bring ...
Skilled: I've read everything you posted and thanks for the response.
Okay, I'm not a genius but I'm not totally stupid either, and I feel like if there are MT's out there that are editing and have increased their line counts and are able to earn more money, then I can too. I am a high producer transcribing. As I said before, I am now editing at just about the same lines per hour that I typed.
Here's my system, so far, that I've developed: I reprogrammed my keyboa ...
Got an e-mail with job openings. That's a first. They need a CCM, any takers? I was interested to see they supervise 50-70 MTs. I thought it was a lot more than that. I thought the reason my CCM seldom sends out e-mails or answers e-mails or the phone, for that matter, was because she had about 300 MTs to supervise. Seriously, we get more e-mail from Vern than from her. Just a random thought while passing through... ...
Argh, one side of my headphones isn't working. This patient is 10 days status post I&D and wound vac application on her leg. The doctor says: she still has a lysengial opening approximately 1 cm by 5 mm in size. ...
SoftScript is in need of a Software Engineer with expertise in Artificial Intelligence, information extraction, machine learning and natural language processing. The appropriate candidate will work with our IT team to develop a crucial portion of our system.
Does this mean their take on VR has changed and now they are looking into it for their software. ...
I pursued this same position a few months ago but ultimately declined it due to the hours. I keep seeing it reappear every couple of months since then.
Does or has anyone worked on that account and is there a reason they keep recruiting for it? It was a tough decision not to take it as I love genetics and find it fascinating, but every time I see it pop up I'm thinking maybe I dodged an enormous bullet by not taking it (lack of work, horrific dictators, etc).
I thought perhaps ...
were out of work, their UE benefits had run out, and they were "too young to retire, but too old for rehire?" That story was an eye-opening and scary. ...
....because it says steady stream of work, amoung other un-truths...as I sit on this site reading and posting because I am OOW again and my shift just started.....Oh, and this is the shift NUANCE changed my schedule to saying that it would make sure I would not run out of work....but can only respond to their post via email....I guess they would not want my response.... ...
I've always just used "small bowel," but then noticed most put "small-bowel," I assume to differentiate it as being part of the intestine as opposed to a small, or little bowel. Okay, that makes sense, so I stated hyphenating small-bowel. However, I just got marked off by QA for putting in a hyphen! No matter what you do or don't do, you're screwed! I do believe they just look for ways to antagonize so you'll never feel appreciated. ...
Don't know what to make of that....just another example of how they want to invest in their Indian employees. If you call slave wages an investment that is. ...
I have one of "those" dictators. I know. . . . . who doesn't, right?
This guy is a native English speaker, but he's a speedy mumbler. I struggle with him, but work on each one of his that I get so that I can get better. Just when I think I'm getting better with him one of his comes back from QA completely marked up. Some are changes that could be debated, but some are just stupid mistakes that I should have caught.
I'm just frustrated ...
Also, although voice recognition has taken off, do you think there will always be companies that won't do it?
I think I feel more comfortable with the small companies than the big ones.

After struggling with names like Siobhan, Ahleksi (concocted to prove a point), and Yvan, I am so happy to have a "normal name" such as what sounds like "John Carter." Whew! Finally! A no-brainer! But I start to look it up-- no such thing in the data base. Well! It just happens to be "John Carter" spelled "Gionn Kharter." This is just a not-real-life illustration. But isn't it irritating when you finally get a regular-sounding name and it's not so regular, and the d ...
