one-doctor, one-nurse practitioner office that is 10 minutes from home in my small town where I will make $12 an hour or I could continue to work from home averaging basically the same rate of pay being paid on production. I'm not sure which to choose.
I like working from home, but the in-office job is Monday through Friday, 9 to 5. No working late to get my lines or working weekends, but it also means an investment in some new clothes because it has been a very long time since I required business casual clothing.
I have an 11yo daughter and while she's very responsible and would only be alone for an hour each day before I got home from work, I still would miss being able to pick her up from school. I would also miss the flexibility of being able to take breaks and run errands if necessary. Plus I have to learn to deal with people and office politics again which I haven't done in many years.
But then I like the idea of getting back out in the world and not feeling so isolated and having an actual in-office job will cut down on the people in my life treating my job like it's not serious because I work in my PJs at home. My sister who lives 5 minutes from me constantly calls me from her work to ask me to run over to her house to check on this or check the mail or let the cat out or see if she left the stove or coffeepot on. So I won't miss that.
So which one would you chose if it were you and why?
