Here's how easy it is - wheres_my_job

Posted: Mar 14, 2012

Make a sign - use cardboard, paint, real easy.  It will say  "OCCUPY M*MODAL" or "OCCUPY ACCENTUS" (I just pull names out of a hat).  Then list one or two of the most egregious abuses on the sign.  Extra points for humor or good zingers.

Go stand somewhere in public.  Maybe connect up with Occupiers in your area.  Just stand there with your sign.  Have a friend take a pic,and post it online.  Maybe stand outside a local hospital or other health care clinic.  Hi, I'm your invisible underpaid MT - and here I am in your face (in a peaceful free speech kind of way).

Alert the news media - write up a press release.  Give them the contact number for "Vern" or whomever at your company.

There you go.  MT Revolt is underway.  C'mon women, stand up and be heard.

really? haha - sm

I stopped shopping at Walmart, and I'm doing - just fine! Better, in fact!

Take clothing, for example. Yes, Walmart clothes are cheap. You buy a $7 tee shirt or a $15 jacket, and think you've gotten a deal. Until you wash it, and even though it says "machine wash warm and tumble dry low", it shrinks. Even if you try to beat them at that game and wash it in cold water and hang it on a line to dry, it still shrinks. And not just a little. It shrinks so much you can only wear the item one more time, until you wash it again and it shrinks still further. Then you have to donate the clothing to the Goodwill, which of course they put in the kids' section because it's so small!

Well forget that! If I need a deal, I shop at the thrift store to begin with. For that same $7-$15, I can get 3 or 4 items of clothing, of better quality.

For everything else, there's eBay or Craigslist. For food, there's Grocery Outlet or Food Maxx. The quality is better there, too, and more choices. I got tired of getting cheese that won't even melt in the oven or microwave (what the heck IS that stuff?!), or rancid milk from Walmart.

There are better deals out there than Walmart, and I've finally kicked the "Walmart Habit"! ;)
yep, but you are the minority - sm

Millions shop at Wal-Mart daily, maybe billions. They don't care that most of the stuff they buy is made in China. Most people don't care that their medical records are being typed in India.
True. But then, most people in the US don't care that - theyre sheep being led by the nose -

Good riddance, cheap China junk peddlers.

The internet blackout to protest SOPA & PIPA - worked; they were stopped. SM

[ In Reply To ..]
How about a "transcription blackout"? For just 24 hours, every MT in America has:
A "headache".
A "family emergency".
A "power failure".
A "sick kid".
A "bomb scare at their kid's school".
A "fire in their apartment building".
A "broken fingernail".

and no transcription gets done. Flex those muscles, ladies!

Worked with Walmart because everyone already knows Walmart. - THEN they wanted to know more. SM

[ In Reply To ..]
Not familiar? would they stop to care or learn more?

would you? because I've seen groups for this and that I never heard of and shrugged my shoulders and thought to myself - whatever...another day, another cause.

I might add, the only ones getting media attention are the ones that are so over people are being removed and relocated to the nearest jailhouse, or the ones that break out into fist fights.

No thanks.

I've already been "Occupying", and my sign says - to bring U.S. jobs home from offshore!

[ In Reply To ..]
I was a tiny little sign, and yet not long after the protest, I saw my sign several on video and photo coverage of the event!

Yeah for you, I support you 100 percent - wheres_my_job

just strike the match, get things rolling...I have a sign, it is 3 feet wide (I measured it)

What Is An Easy Way To Tell The Difference Between These Two?
Mar 23, 2012

Procyte and Prosight I know that Prosight is a multivitamin.  I found both on WebMD's drugs and meds A-Z.  There was no information on Procyte.  It was just listed as Procyte Top.  I was not aware that there was a Procyte until earlier today.  The doctor dictated "And be careful you use the correct one, but I am unsure of the spelling."  That confused me a bit, so I did some research and the only place that I found any mention of Procyte was on WebMD.  An ...

Coding Credentials Made Easy!
Jan 12, 2012

People who are new to coding get confused about credentials. There is some great information in the pages below if you read what has been written on here for months, and I definitely recommend doing that. You will learn more than you can imagine.  I thought I would try to put it in a short,  easy-to-understand format, specifically designed for MTs who are transitoning to coding. CCS and CPC - Impressive! Marketable skills. This is comparable to a medical transcriptionist who can type ...
