I love this Coding forum! - Loving it!

Posted: Jun 17, 2010

The people on this coding forum are so pleasant and helpful. If someone gets cranky, it only seems to last for a minute and, unlike many other forums, people don't jump in and start battles. Also, people don't seem to get so defensive or take things personally the way they do in other places.

There is an enormous amount of helpful information here and we get to see more than one side of everything, without battles. People respect each other's opinions even when they disagree. This is the way it should be, in my opinion.

I love it!  Thanks to everyone who participates.

I'm definitely learning something here every day - nm

I Love Coding!
Mar 17, 2012

The thing I like most about coding is the process that you go through. It's good for my brain. They say that people use their brains stay healthier longer. Coding is interesting, but it isn't too hard. It's definitely not too easy. I've always loved medical transcription, but I really love coding! ...

Not Sure If This Is The Right Forum, But....
Nov 04, 2010

I've been approached by a local physician to take over his transcription.  He dictates from home right now, into his computer.  I think maybe with EMDAT?  My guess would be that the voice files are created and held somewhere, and his current company/transcriptionist goes in and gets them and somehow transcribes and sends them back via the computer.  Anyway, I've been out of the loop for long enough that I'm searching for a low cost, easy way to get his files to ...

Yesterday Was The First Time I Ever Posted On This Forum
Apr 06, 2010

I always held myself back from posting.  I guess I'm "secretly afraid" that "spooks" are roaming around on the this Board, and if you say "enough" they'll find out who you are via technological "magic" which I don't really understand. But, as I said a post or so back, "I Hit Some Kind of a Wall."  The need to vent has overcome the need to exercise wisdom.  And besides, I'm looking or another job and at least I live in a big city that has a lot of data entry a ...

For Larger Print When Reading Forum
Aug 09, 2014

When reading this forum or when on ANY Internet site, if you are having trouble because the print is too small, hold down your Ctrl key while using the scroll on the mouse. Moving the mouse "wheel" up will enlarge the print; moving the mouse wheel down will make it smaller. This pretty much works on anything except for e-mails. Don't forget to keep the Ctrl key held down while you are doing this. ...

Hired For Coding/billing/transcription, But Told No Coding
Aug 13, 2013

Accepted a job, gave 2 weeks notice, and yesterday was my first day.  I was to be helping out transcription (1000 jobs behind), and then sitting with billing and training with coding as their coder will be out on maternity leave in December.  The office is adding another surgeon, and they are rapidly expanding.  So I gave a proper 2 weeks' notice to my former employer (2 hours on the road there and back, low salary - now less than half distance and $3 more an hour) and starte ...

Coding School - Fate Of Coding Due To EMR
Apr 10, 2012

Wondering if there are any coders out there who can give me an idea of the fate of coding due to the EMR. Are there still coding jobs out there? Would it be wise to attend school for coding at this point or do you think it will be lost to the EMR eventually? I live in a rural area and there are advertisements for registered/accredited coders at medical facilities, but I'm afraid of spending all that time and money on schooling only to not be able to find a job. Any information/insight w ...

Do I Need To Take An Actual Coding Course To Learn Coding?
Feb 26, 2014

My sister is taking an online coding course and complains that there is no real "teaching," that she's basically just doing the work in the work book and entering answers online, then taking an online chapter test.  This makes me wonder about the necessity of signing up for an actual course.  I would like to learn how to code, but to me, without any actual instruction, what's the purpose of signing up for one of these online courses? ...

Why I Love VR
Dec 20, 2009

Hey, I don't actually type that crap, ya know!  I have way too much dignity to be associated with that garbage for the pittance they are paying.  However, looking at the crap that VR produces that is included in patient records, I realized, hey, why bother proofreading???  Anything I produce with my old-fashioned, stone-age, luddite TRANSCRIPTION looks a heck of a lot better than anything I've seen VR produce.  No one will notice any mistakes I might make.  The ...
