softscript line count - mtbalt

Is anyone having trouble with Softscript line counts? All of a sudden it is about half what it's been for the last year. I've read of this problem there in the past but all was fine for so long and now I'm worried.

I'm worried, too. I've been shorted on lines before and each time I contacted line discrepancy and they said they took care of it (heavy on the *said*) You really have to go over your payment information carefully to see if they really did. This last pay period I logged in and was missing about 400 lines!!! I contacted line discrepancy as usual but never heard back. Now, that is upsetting. Today the system is down again so who knows when anyone will hear anything from anyone. I am tired of having to play private detective about my earnings. This last time I actually took a picture with my digital camera of my line count information with the time stamped on it, so we'll see what shows up on my pay stub.

That is a great idea about taking a pic of the line count. I wondered how to get in there after the fact and review. Now I'll just take a pic too. Thanks!

these people are the WORST. post ads every Friday, overhiring as fast as possible just to replace the people who just left. as far as I know, never cheated me on lines, but didn't get enough lines to matter. just sat here and pressed F5 and get NJA. complained, begged for work, always going to be more work "in about another week or two." so like I said, worked for some bad companies, working for a bad company now, but never anything as bad as SoftScript. Alicia was my "manager" couldn't even find her head. and the VP's? yeah they're all geniuses. at making you sit there and think you have a job. Carla hahaha, and Sandy. yeah just keep working for them so THEY can get a check. I can't wait until this industry tanks. I'm already broke so it won't affect me but I would love to see how they like it when there's no job for THEM anymore. good luck and get out if you can.

I've been missing parts of split jobs also, and it seems we also do not get paid for any hard-coded type on templates, i.e. standard procedures for some docs, etc. Always wondered how I end up with 30 lines on a 2-page report. Also haven't had any work at all for the last 2 days. :-(

Maybe they started not paying for some parts of the - transcription, such as spaces, or -sm

headers/footers, that used to be paid? Our company stopped paying for paragraph headers, and never bothered to tell us. It sure was noticeable in the paychecks that followed, however.

how and when did you become aware they stopped paying for them if they refused to notify you?

Things like "History & Physical", "Allergies", - "Review of Systems", things like that.

At the time they were still paying for spaces. They didn't stop that until later. I just kept wondering why my original line count (on their software) was one number, and the amount on the paycheck was less. I was suspicious of the headers because we have to use their macros for them, not ours. Crunched some numbers and came up with a very rough estimate of what the percentage of paragraph names to regular typing was, and that it pretty much matched the percenate my pay was down, and the percentage difference between original line count and their "final" version. Finally, I was suspicious enough that I asked, and they didn't deny it.

I that was odd too until I realized that "paragraph headers" are known as "headings" in my neck of the woods and that "headers" (and footers) are part of many types of documents, not just in medical transcription.

Maybe "what are..." works on a platform where there aren't headers or maybe does SOAP notes. Not everyone does the same type of work. Geesh, give them a break, eh?

I think they may have sneakingly took out paying for spaces. I am a fairly fast typist and had no problems making the required line count (when there was work), and now it seems like I have to do twice as much to get the line count. What is ridiculous is, they are making more profit and we are getting screwed. I am sure they STILL BILL for spaces, etc.

I have a work around that works for some accounts so you get paid for your headings and whatever else in the body of the template they are removing. Doesn't work with all accounts tho sorry..contact me by email..Wonder if this is an issue we could contact labor board over?

I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. Is this correct? I type 70,000 characters a day. I am paid by the 65 character line so I would divide 70,000 by 65 to get 1076, then multiple that by pay per line, say $.10 and get $107. If this is not correct then what is the formula? And what is the average number of lines per day? Thanks so much for the info. ...

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the easiest way to not count template lines when trying to invoice? I get a line count through Word, but I hear that Word counts blank spaces as well. I downloaded and use Flash Count, but it includes all 65 character lines, I beleive including the template headings. I hope this makes sense. Please help!! ...

I have been working for this company for about 18 month and so far so good. It was even bought out by a bigger company and everything stayed the same with no problems. They don't bother me, I do my work and everything is fine. About 6 months ago my line count started going way down and I really just chalked it up to not being able to concentrate as much because my baby started walking and basically making it impossible for me to work. I have been told that I need to increase my LPH. So last night I kept track of the lines of each document done by using MS Word. But later when I compared it to Nuance's line tracker (ichart) it only listed half the lines that MS Word listed. How can this be? I realized that Word my count blank lines, but how can there possibly be that much difference? So far, I have calculated the "count score" on Fluency at the new rate of 0.08/.048 vs per report rate. I 'lost' on average $165-175 per pay period over the past 3 months by the line count. My report rates are currently 1.20/.072. Anyone else? Please share. Also, the 'count score' is our line count, right?? ...

I used to do 250-275 lph fairly easily. Lately, I am typing as fast and furious as ever and struggle to get above 200 lph. Not sure what is going on, but I'm pretty sure it ain't me. What in the heck does .05 for every 43 black characters equal out to. It doesn't sound good but I'm no math whiz. Maybe, I'm missing something and who pays like that. I was checking my line count, went back and checked it later, and it was down! Not the first time I have seen this. Seriously, I am feeling like we are being set up to fail in a MAJOR way!
