keystrokes line count - nsnmt
Posted: Jan 06, 2015
Crazy but true, I do not have access to my own line counts. I work for keystrokes, 2 accounts, was told line counts could be found on checks.
Are you serious? How are you suppose to budget or have - an idea of your pay or

know how you are coming along from one day to the next? You need to know your line counts so that you know how you are doing? Is this maybe just limited to a certain platform? What platform do you work on. Not a KS employee, but never heard of that before.
That has to be a mistake. Maybe you should go to the - company board and...

post and ask where to find your line count on that platform someone can help you. I mean I believe you, but I would try posting a thread on the company board along with the name of the platform you work on and asking where to look to find your line count. If it turns out you truly don't have access to it, then that's really a shame. Wow.

Wow, that sounds kinda crooked, that you don't know the line counts until you get your check. Sounds like you don't have anything to verify that against.
Not true. Every KS account has a way to look at your line count. Call your manager. sm - KSMT

This is a pathetic attempt to sabotage a good company.
Instead of accusing her of trying to sabtoge the company - Why didnt you - SM

ask her platform and offer up help as to where to find it?
You are 100% right, and I apologize lower down. nm - KSMT

I'm not usually a rude or snappish person; this board brings out the worst in me.
What a pathetic response. As seen below, there ARE - platforms like that at Keystrokes

Obviously you are wrong, and should probably know more about your company before you make such an accusation.
With as many MT's as KS has, wouldn't someone have brought this up before? nm - Geesh

I have talked to my leads and manager with no result. I have no reason to "sabotage" KS, I have worked hard to stay here as know it's not a bad place to work. I just simply exist with no line count #'s for myself. Winscribe "we don't have access to that.". Editscript "client does those, you'll see it on your paycheck."
line count in editscript - prufread

I work for KS and on Editscript. You cannot get an accurate line count, but you can get a guesstimate. I have found that my counts are always lower than what I actually earn, so that is kind of nice to get that surprise. But, you can check them by going into transcription metrics in the tools section. Hope this helps.
It's true. Some accounts at KS are like that - and it is crazy

I worked at KS for several years (left about 2 years ago) and I had a few friends/coworkers who worked on accounts like this. They didn't have access to their line counts at all and weren't told what their total was until the end of the pay period. From what I remember, they had to wait for the hospital to send the account coordinator each person's line count total at the end of the pay period. I always thought that was totally screwed up and I would absolutely refuse to work on an account like that. I need to be able to keep track of how much I make each day so that I can budget accordingly. I'm so glad that I never got stuck with one of those accounts.
be happy you have 2 accts...I starve because they won't gimme another one. nm - StarvingMT
Has to be a software situation - or client gives KS info? SM - Billie Jean
[ In Reply To ..]
What is their exact reason? I would think it has to do with software - or the fact that the client gives the total......Chartnet has a way to check totals - but an account with C-phones probably will not - you rad or HIM?

HIM. My first account is because of ER reports which are done in halves then merged together. Any line counts for these do not show up in your counts and are reported by the client to MTSO. Then I use Winscribe which I was told is "audio" only so no way to get your counts which are done by client. For a while I did keep track of my ER halves using MS line counting but you have to do that for every report so eventually gave up as really cannot afford to spend extra time on it and besides, I figure who would I whine to about it anyway? Again, not trying to trash KS but just posted here to see if anyone had ever heard of such a thing as it just seems wrong.
I'm sorry if my post sounded cold. Please sm on line counts. - KSMT

I apologize for me earlier post sounding combative. I love working for KS, and it seems that the last week or so, all posts have been bashing. I have been a lead for a very long time, and we see a lot of bad MT's and then see them post here. I used to love MTD, and always hoped this would be similar, but it's not.
Anyways, now that you posted again, I can answer better: Winscribe is the dictation platform not a transcription platform, so no way for it to count lines. What are you typing into?
My advice would be to contact either LT or KB directly. Or post on the KS FB page and ask others on your account what they do. I find that group very helpful and try to answer questions when I can.
There should be a way for you to see the lines or at least a running total every day.
Does it allow her to copy & paste in Word? It may be - off somewhat but..

At least she will have some indication. Just a thought. She may be scared to ask the company now after asking her and getting answered by a lead..LOL, I know I would be.
No reason to be scared. She was nice about it. I overreacted. nm - KSMT

no big deal getting yelled at, stay tuff or hang up them headphones! Answer given was "Winscribe is audio account only, counts are done by touch works and we have no access to that." MS Word 7 is the platform. Will check into KS FB page, no idea anything like that existed. Appreciate advice and comments!
Is there a strict 8-hour schedule? How is their clinic work? Do you have to type out an unending pool of doctors or can you have your own doctors to transcribe for? Thanks! ...
I usually use the line count built into the Word program itself. Is MTStars flash count and/or abacus equivocal ?? Any one program better than the other ?? TIA ...
I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. The company I will be working for wants a minimum of 10,000 lines in a payperiod which the lady said even with part time ...
Anyone have MP Count? I used it a few years ago, but my computer crashed so I no longer have it. I'm not sure if this IC job is gonna work out so I'm not wanting to buy a program at this point. Any advice?
Thanks. ...
Is this correct? I type 70,000 characters a day. I am paid by the 65 character line so I would divide 70,000 by 65 to get 1076, then multiple that by pay per line, say $.10 and get $107. If this is not correct then what is the formula? And what is the average number of lines per day? Thanks so much for the info. ...
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the easiest way to not count template lines when trying to invoice? I get a line count through Word, but I hear that Word counts blank spaces as well. I downloaded and use Flash Count, but it includes all 65 character lines, I beleive including the template headings. I hope this makes sense. Please help!! ...
I would like opinions about the IT (Instant Text) line count program? Do you find it user friendly? Are there other programs preferred/easier? Any suggestions or opinions? TIA. ...

Hi. Can anyone decipher what the memo means about the new line count? How will our pay change, wait...never mind...I am sure it will go down. Anyway, what does this new stuff mean? ...
I have been working for this company for about 18 month and so far so good. It was even bought out by a bigger company and everything stayed the same with no problems. They don't bother me, I do my work and everything is fine. About 6 months ago my line count started going way down and I really just chalked it up to not being able to concentrate as much because my baby started walking and basically making it impossible for me to work. For the past week my line count has about doubled. ...
Over an hour into my shift, I went to check my line count, so that I can keep track hourly.. well it has ZERO... nothing has taken effect yet??? is this normal. ...
I have been told that I need to increase my LPH. So last night I kept track of the lines of each document done by using MS Word. But later when I compared it to Nuance's line tracker (ichart) it only listed half the lines that MS Word listed. How can this be? I realized that Word my count blank lines, but how can there possibly be that much difference? I felt like I really kicked butt last night, but then to look at LPH with Nuance's ichart I felt cheated/ ...
So far, I have calculated the "count score" on Fluency at the new rate of 0.08/.048 vs per report rate. I 'lost' on average $165-175 per pay period over the past 3 months by the line count. My report rates are currently 1.20/.072.
Anyone else? Please share.
Also, the 'count score' is our line count, right?? ...
Anyone else struggling to get their lines in at AP after loosing a hospital recently? Maybe I'm signing on at the wrong time of day but usually there are hardly any jobs for at least an hour after I start the day. Hope I'm not alone or I am doing something very wrong. ...
"So if the company wants to consistently give me a slightly higher line count than I am able to document at my end, I should have a problem with this... why??"
Wow. Crankybeach. You are old enough that you should not need to ask that question. Here are a few of the more publicized examples of "why":
Exhibit A: Enron. Lots of people played along and look at the end result.Exhibit B: Madoff. Lots of people played along and look at the end result.Exhibit ...
I used to do 250-275 lph fairly easily. Lately, I am typing as fast and furious as ever and struggle to get above 200 lph. Not sure what is going on, but I'm pretty sure it ain't me.
Also, when did they change the dictating system over to 2 cans and a piece of string? I CANNOT hear this CRAP. Even the American guys are starting to sound wind-tunnelish ...
Is it typical to only receive a percentage of your edited lines because "editing is faster and better" than straight transcription? I am new to VR, but this seems odd to me. No wonder I am being paid a decent rate. LOL So, when I edit a 50-line report, I only receive 60% of that report. I'm just curious if this across the board with all companies?? ...
What in the heck does .05 for every 43 black characters equal out to. It doesn't sound good but I'm no math whiz. Maybe, I'm missing something and who pays like that. What happened to X-amount of cpl based on a 65-character line..or even a gross line. I suspect it's a sneaky way to screw you but I could be wrong. ...
I was checking my line count, went back and checked it later, and it was down! Not the first time I have seen this. Seriously, I am feeling like we are being set up to fail in a MAJOR way! Issues with the line count, QA getting tougher, it is all adding up to on big set up-at least, that is the way it has been feeling to me lately. It is hard to stay focused when you feel like your work may disappear at any moment, or get in trouble with QA because of horrendous dictation ...
Can anyone tell me what their average line count is per day? (just the total not separated between work type). Im not trying to be nosey and I don't know who any of you are personally, I'm just trying to get an idea where I stand compared to everyone else here. I have been at Medquist for many years and seen many changes. Over the years, my line count has gone up and my pay has gone down. I am trying to determine if the reason is mostly me or mostly medquist changes and if th ...
Why is 5/24/2010 showing up twice on my monthly totals and when I run detail on this it is showing less jobs? Called tech support and they dont know. I'm sure I'm going to get ripped off of lines. I did take a picture of my computer screen showing this error so if my paycheck is wrong I have evidence. Is this happening to anyone else? ...
I am new to MedQuist. Can anyone tell me if you are supposed to see your line count on your paycheck stub? I don't see mine and that seems odd to me. ...
Below is a response when asked to clarify compensation from a prospective employer. As an "old school" MT, I am unsure as to how to interpret this. I've always been paid by th hour. I need to make a decision. Thanks in advance -
