Whadda think of Records One? - OTIer

Posted: Nov 05, 2014

Well gals--What is the verdict? Are you going to stay with Records One or look elsewhere? Is anyone getting work on a new account? My lines are about 1/3 of my line count before the Mercedes/RecordsOne debacle. I am wondering if staying with Records One is going to be a long, slow death. Anyone have any thoughts they want to share?

They're not working fast enough to get new accounts as far as I can tell - sm

I went with both companies and to be honest, I'm making more at 6.5 cpl than with RT1.

Definitely frustrating - Waiting patiently

I imagine it's going to take a while to gather up some new accounts; however, I have to admit it is very frustrating to sit at the computer constantly checking for work for hours at a time. To the gal who is also working for Mercedes: Do they require shift work (i.e., 10 to 2, etc)? Do they leave you alone to do your work like OTI did? Just curious as I am looking around for other work. Thx.

So, what else is new, except this would be a good time time for both -- if they want us to be patient (do they?), if they think things will improve (do they?), if they have anything in the works (do they?)

They do not require shift work, they leave you alone AND.... sm - Mercedes MT

They have NO LINE QUOTA. So far a very pleasant place to work although very low pay. But I have had PLENTY of work.

Do they require committing to a weekend day? - Waiting patiently

Thank you for your reply, which was a pleasant surprise to read. Does Mercedes require weekend commitments?
Forgot to ask... sm - Waiting patiently

Are you working on speech recognition accounts or straight typing? Thx
My contract says nothing about weekend work and - sm

nothing has been said to me about weekend work. I do work on the weekends though.

I work straight typing. I don't know if they have ASR or not, but I don't believe they do.
Thank you -sm - Waiting patiently

Wow - Think I'll see if the offer to work for them is still open.

Wonderful communication and - more than enuf work sm

I will echo the comments made by Mercedes MT -- I actually got bashed on this board after the split by saying I was going with them instead of the no-work, no-communication OTI/Records one. Well at least I have a TON of work, great team, communication and paychecks on time, or as with our last payday before time! It might be lower pay than the norm, but I have good pay days as compared to my last pay day from OTI which was close to zero due to NJA.
And you contribute to the spiraling wages. There are more/better companies out there. nm - JMO

I disagree, however - everyone is entitled sm
[ In Reply To ..]
to their own opinion. I understand where you are coming from. When I started in this business, standard was 12 cpl, then 10, then lucky to get 8. I could go on and on, but I won't. I'm just happy to have a job with steady work and steady pay. First a lot of our work was going overseas and now EMR. I'll take what I can get.

Money, money, who has the money? - buns

Low line counts for the MTs should translate to low revenue for Records One; this situation does not appear to have created any urgency on the part of Records One to line up new accounts. Lack of revenue = financial stress = urgency to create more revenue.

Per past communication, someone was supposedly hired to recruit new facilities (really, there is money to add another person to the staff !!??), which that in itself might be a challenge considering many facilities are moving away from using MTSOs. We were also asked to be patient with the explanation that going after bigger accounts and getting them set up takes time. If you want to keep good MTs, send an occasional update.

OTI/Records One used to be a little different, a little bit above the cut of the MTSO landfill out there. Sure, they over hired, kept lowering line rates for new accounts, and treated the MT with little to no respect, but they had a true IC working relationship with the MTs, paid on time, and had a great QA policy that did not penalize you for blanks. The way the split was handled with keeping the MTs in the dark and drawing out the announcements of the changes just began a downward spiral of mistrust and that is just something you have to earn back; right now Records One is not doing a great job in that department.

In the silence that ensues, one can surmise many scenarios but I seriously doubt there is much of a future here. Perhaps they are just riding what is left of the revenue train off a cliff? Not worth waiting around to find out, just my opinion.

Too, too funny. Check your e-mails... - anonanon

They read MTStars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pants on fire? - buns

I wonder if there is an ounce of truth in that e-mail? Why has there been no mention of these âvery nice accountsâ until this discussion on MTStars?

Pride and self-back-patting on the part of Records One would have led to an announcement of how wonderful the transition was working if they had indeed landed new accounts and provided work for such a sizeable number of people!

Future Of MT's With New Electronic Records
Apr 28, 2010

To: Current MTs I am considering entering the medical transcription field.  I am trying to evaluate the pros and cons of this business to see if it will be a good fit for me.  If anyone has reactions to the following statements/concerns, I will be glad to hear them. Medical Records Tech Job

CHECK YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS!!

I would advise EVERYONE to get a copy of their medical records and view them.  I had to get copies from my  PCP (cost me $15.00, but worth it), and I found soooo many mistakes. Foreign-transcribed Records
Aug 17, 2014

She said the records are done so badly that they can't use them, can't trust that the information in them is correct. When I told her my job may go away soon & be sent to India, she said "it can't!" She said these records are obviously done by people who don't speak English. What I don't understand is how work can still be off ...
