Webbers, the new changes are making me nervous. - I feel like the other shoe is about to drop. sm

I hate this paranoid feeling like I'm baggage and not part of the team anymore.  Do you think they'll improve communication and it will feel like the old, happy Webmedx again?

I think communication HAS greatly improved. The recorded call... - sm

...on the community page, the announcement/article about the new AMs on the community page, the monthly company newsletter, email updates and a phone number to my account manager, a backlog update, updated account specs...what more do you want?

Too much communication and everyone gripes about too many emails and phone calls and they say they just want to be "left alone" to do their jobs...not enough emails/phone calls and then everyone gripes about not enough communication.

Darned if they do, darned if they don't.

Back to work.

Really? I used to hear from my STM 3x a day, plus weekends. sm - Nony

My STM used to actually share information with me - now my AM tells me basically nothing except when OT is allowed (VERY LIMITED) and not available when I need her.

What company do YOU work for??? Big deal - some pre-recorded crap posted on the comm page?? How accurate is that? How timely is it when I need contact daily? You sound suspiciously like a Suit.

What is it with the "suit" accusations. - Half-Webber

From my short time with WMX, it would appear that depending on your acct, you can have a completely different work experience from someone else. This seems to be a theme on this board - don't agree or don't have the same experience as someone else and get accused of being a suit or just flat out lying. Strange.
It is not your experience that is questioned... - It is the standard management statements

Too obvious.
"If it walks like a duck, and QUACKS like a duck".... - ...well, you know the answer. nm

IMHO, I DO agree with you 100% & greatly appreciate the infrequency of interactions with supervisor and being left alone to work. Email updates, newsletters, community page all are sufficient. After working at another MTSO where the acct manager, snippy team lead, and even the weird QA supervisor on a continual power trip, were actually permitted to call MTs (often over nonsense that would have been much more time-efficient just to put in an E-mail), the infrequency of interactions at Webmedx is a breath of fresh air and much more professional.

Management are the only ones who say too many e-mails. - Not the MTs.

Guess that tells us about all we need to know about this post.

MTs NEVER complain about TOO much communication :(

Everytime somebody has anything to say about Webmedx some management plant comes on here to say how wonderful the company is. You get paid big bucks, don't you have anything better to do during your work hours??

e-mails - anon

To accuse someone of being a suit because they do not agree with you is a bit paranoid, don't you think?

I had an STM who was good and sent 3 and sometimes more e-mails/day. They were informative and good and I liked them. I encouraged a friend to apply who started on different accounts and with a different manager. That manager sent more e-mails and micromanaged everything, and my friend hated it and promptly quit. So, your experience can be vastly different at the same company, it does not mean that the other person is a "suit" and some people like to do their own thing and NOT be micromanaged, which does not make them a suit either!

Just saying...I am cautiously watching to see what will happen, I don't expect doom and gloom, but I am also making back up plans "just in case!" But nobody EXCEPT the suits knows what is coming next.

But what about the managers who don't answer - E-mail or phone messages? Very frustrating! nm

Ex-Edix/Spheris managers are all excellent - communicators. Nothing to worry about.

NEWBIE GETTING NERVOUS
Aug 29, 2010

I'm new to the profession and new to the boards. I am here just trying to get a feel for the real world in transcription. I have to say the few things I have read on here so far are making me very nervous. I am just finishing my course within the next month or two through Penn Foster so the search for a job is in my near future... These are a few things I am curious about:  Is the MT job market really that bad? What advice can you give me as a new MT? Have any of you MT's out ...

Interviewing Soon And Nervous
Oct 01, 2010

I have an interview coming up and I am a little nervous.  I have not had an interview in years and I don't know what to expect.  The last two times I had interviews with an MTSO, they did not really interview me but instead just told me about the account and wanted to know what shift I wanted to work. For those of you who have been interviewing recently, what was it like?  What questions can I be expected to answer.  Thanks. ...

Nervous Transition
Oct 21, 2011

I have come into transciption within the past four years. This is something I have always wanted to do and finally found a way to get into the field. There does not seem to be alot of money in straight typing, and less in VR. I have always made incentive, but still - its just not enough and I work very hard to get that. Right now, I work for a company with straight typing only, no VR. I am taking a position with a company that has VR and it sounds to me like the position is pre ...

Soon To Be A Nuancer And Am Nervous
Nov 27, 2012

I'm getting ready to have software installed on my computer this week and am having second thoughts after reading the posts on this board.  I'm really upset about the off-shoring that Nuance does and was naive when I applied (I should've checked on the boards first).  I'm not sure if I should back out or give it a try.  The account I'm assigned to supposedly is a new clinic account so everything is up in the air - it'll be straight typing and then mov ...

MT Transitioning Out And Nervous
Jan 25, 2014

Seeking advice from other MTs who are currently in school for another field or have already transitioned out of MT. One semester to go and I will hopefully be prepared to enter a career field that has nothing to do with MT. Problem is, I find myself worrying about working outside the home. I've been an at-home MT for almost 12 years. I have found a new enjoyment being around people in my classes and activities, but I'm so used to the home environment as my workplace. I am ge ...

Applying To SoftScript But Nervous
Nov 12, 2012

Well, I am going to go ahead and apply to SoftScript and I must say I am nervous hearing the negatives about the work, but at the same time if I don't get out of Nuance I will pull my hair out soon. At least I have read a few positives about SoftScript. I have read NO POSITIVES about Nuance. I came in as part of a buyout several years ago and it is scary to think I might be leaving one bad to another bad, but at the same time I think Nuance is trying to push some of us out anyway and I have ...

I Have A Job Interview Tomorrow At A Hospital And I'm So Nervous
Sep 24, 2014

I have a job interview at a huge hospital tomorrow for a medical records analyst.  I'm very excited that I even got a call for an interview, but I'm also scared beyond words.  I haven't had a face-to-face interview in 12 years and I've become such a hermit that I'm scared to death of going for an interview, driving there, answering questions, etc.  I went back to school, just finished and got my degree, applied for this job and now I have an interview so i ...

Work Comp For Nervous Breakdown LOL?
Feb 25, 2015

I probably shouldn't even be complaining considering how bad most people have it at this company (and I spent 4 years waist deep in the existential horror of ever expanding BoBs and ASR so I know it can be so much worse), but sometimes the little stuff just drives me nuts.  The last three months have been a QA rollercoaster.  In December, I flunked my quality audit.  Oh my god, I put "were" instead of "was."  I can see how that's a critical error.  Hundreds of ...

Jan 24, 2011

Hi. My name is Suzanne and I am enrolling in the Andrew's School for Medical Coding next week, on Tuesday February 1, 2001 and am getting nervous. I am a medical transcriptionist and I want to know if any thing I have done in the last 10 years, such as medical terminology and anatomy, will help me. Of course I will take that part of the course, but I want to know if that will help. Also, I am most nervous about deciphering the codes. I guess what I am asking is how do I know I will be a goo ...

Hi Friends: My name is Suzanne and I am sending in my paperwork to enroll in the Andrew's School for Medical Coding and I am nervous.  I am nervous because I do know I can do it, but what about my age of 57.  I am too old for studying for this field?  I am a medical transcriptionist and have been for 12 years and I am a fast thinker and learner and I know I can do it, but what about the Affordable Care Act and the jobs being outsourced like medical transcription. How Much Are You Making?
Feb 21, 2010

Hey everyone.  I am just curious as to what everyone makes these days (if you are being paid by the line) and how long should you stay at that rate before you ask for more/raise your price? I've been at 12 cents per line for the past 3.5 years and I don't know how much more I should ask for.  I don't want to ask for too much, yet I don't want to sell myself short.  I am just thankful to even have my job so I don't want to rub anyone the wro ...

To Me2 Making 40K
Jun 17, 2010

Just have to ask, how much ASR do you do? Are you able to fly through at high speed without going back to proof and still getting strong audit? Do you have several dictators with several formats or a handful with all the same format? Your credentials are impressive but there are only so many things you can do to make that kind of money anymore and it is painful for me to know you are able to make that much at the same company, doing the same kind of work. Also, how much time would you say you ...

Making More Than Me
Nov 29, 2010

Just found out through the grapevine that someone was hired at my company at a higher cpl that I was offered.  I have been there since June and was offered a low rate compared to most MTSO companies.  But it did get me off the midnight shift at a different company, which I would have stayed with had I been given the opportunity to change shifts.  She was offered 2 cpl more for straight and 1.75 cpl more for ASR.   I also have more years in the profession than she does, a ...

Sep 30, 2011

How in the heck are you supposed to make any money doing SR?  Is it possible?  I make good money as a transcriptionist and have avoided SR up to now.  Now my company is transitioning over and I'm contemplating running for the door. I don't see how it's possible to make any money when you get paid half the cpl that you would make for transcribing.  I generally transcribe as fast as the dictator talks (unless they're really crappy, of course).  You stil ...

Do You Any MTs Making $50,000 Or More Per Year?

To those making 50+ K a year: I'm glad to know that in this industry it is still possible to make a decent living! I LOVE transcription!  I've been an at-home MT for about 5 years and see the potential, but seem to get easily distracted being at home and get restless and can't sit still.  What is it that you are doing to stay focused on your work?  Is it really about working weekends and second, third shifts?  Please share!
