Rc'd my 1099 today... - SD

It came in a plain envelope with no return address, postmarked 02/07/13. It is also in the wrong amount - does not match my records/paystubs. Interesting that it turned up after all.

From what I have been told, the IRS will go by the amount that has been submitted to them by the Payee (TTD).

I would suggest you call the IRS 1-800 # and ask how you should proceed, so that YOU remain within the framework of the law.

I looked into the matter today and found out that in instances where the 1099 numbers do not match the submitted numbers, the IRS sends a letter requesting clarification about the discrepancy. Since I have paystubs showing dates/amounts/check numbers from Jan. 1 until I stopped working for them, I can prove my numbers, which should be sufficient information according to the tax service I spoke with. I am not sure if the IRS would pursue the matter with TTD or what - my main concern was making sure my end was correct. =)

I am trying to file my taxes for last year and have yet to receive my W2 from Superior Global Solutions. Having been coldly terminated last May I no longer have access to anything related to them so I cannot go into the system and pull my W2 or PM or call my last team leader and apparently the phone number I had for them no longer exists. I'm curious about all the posts regarding getting your 1099 if you're an IC. As an IC, a business person, you should already know what you've billed to clients (services). You don't need to wait for a 1099 to file your income taxes if you've kept good records and already know what you billed out and what you received. I need to know if MTs filing as ICs can claim dependents for the child tax credit and what, if any, forms I need in addition to the 1099-MISC form they sent me. Hi, I am new to the independent contractor thing, but shouldn't a company that has "hired" you as an independent contrator have your SS and a 1099 filled out by you? Just wondering as it seems to me this is necessary and since it is not being done, it makes me wonder about this company that much more, espcially since others have stated they have not been paid by this company. After 7 years, I began to get the failed audits. Interestingly, the past year, I was the second HIGHEST in QA AFTER A RANDOM QA AUDIT FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR! Go figure. I quit a few weeks ago.
