JLG - resignation - Had enough
Posted: Mar 08, 2011
Can anybody share their experience when they left JLG? Did you give a 2 week notice and did they let you work or did they shut you out right away?
It has been a long time since I worked for - them. SM

I cannot remember exactly how that went down. What I do remember is I had a very bad experience. Having worked as an MT for over 20 years at that point, I could not believe how difficult it was for me to transcribe the dictation I was given, bad audio being one of the problems. However, my major complaint was how I was treated during this time. Basically, I was the cause of all of the "problems" and they were perfect. After I left, the owner sent me a letter basically stating the same. I just have to say that I am not a "complainer" or a "whiner". I was at my last company for over 10 years until they sold to another company. I don't like job hopping. I tried to make a go of it, but they would not work with me from the beginning.

Thank you for answering. I'm sorry you had a bad experience and nothing has changed. Your story sounds pretty much like mine. They apparently just do not care about their people.
They're horrible to work for - anon

I didn't have to give notice, but they were kind enough to let me go via e-mail (I was FT employee, not an IC). And, yes, they shut me out right away. I couldn't even check my final line count.
I wouldn't think twice about giving notice. The way they treat their employees, there is absolutely no reason to be loyal to them. I would start by first checking your line count and documenting it. Be professional and give them a 2-week notice but make sure to do so in writing (e-mail should be acceptable since they like it so much). To be on the safe side, I would send copies to everyone on the food chain so they can't claim that it was never received. In the written notice, state that you expect to be paid for any PTO/vacation time you have coming to you as well as your final line count. If they don't lock you out and keep you on for the 2 weeks, keep checking and documenting your line count each day just to be on the safe side.
Just a note, I personally did not have any trouble receiving my final check from them.
Good luck to you! The going rate now is lousy all around, but finding an employer that treats you like a human is sometimes worth a little bit of a hit.

I worked for them for a little over a year. I was let go via phone call, but still managed to get in one long report with no blanks before I was shut out of the system. I also seemed to get the crap dictation, the bad audio, etc. The only good about them was I got a really good pay rate.
That's why you were let go - anon

You were getting a good pay rate. I wouldn't consider mine to be "good," but it was better than what's being offered now. They did not cite poor work performance, chronic absence, etc., as their reason for letting me go, but rather cutbacks. I'm sure that they went and cut all the higher-paid MTs and hired new ones at a lower rate. I've also heard rumors that they most certainly do offshore, even though they swear up and down that they don't. And I have NEVER worked for more obnoxious and incompetent management staff.
It's just a lousy place to work.

I had 2 close friends on the QA team. They spent most of their day QA'ing work coming back from India and giving feedback to mgmt in India.
That's the only good thing I have to say - anon

about JLG. Their QA staff was great. They were consistent, correct, not overly picky, and always sent helpful and nicely worded feedback when needed or requested. They should give lessons to the office staff/management on how to behave professionally.
They don't care about their staff (sm) - Been there done that

I too worked for them for a good long while with nothing but excellent reviews. They called me one evening after I finished working and told me they no longer needed me effective that day. A co-worker of mine (who was a manager) learned that he had been let go by his passwords no longer working. They didn't even do him the service of calling or emailing him. The owner of the company is a selfish woman who cares only for her creature comforts of a new Mercedes every year and flying in fresh flowers 3 times a week from Hawaii for her veranda. They assure their clients that the work is done only in the US but it's not. They send a significant amount of work to India. It will be a happy day for me when I read somewhere that the company has gone down in flames.
I just got a call that I am hired for a job that I interviewed for yesterday (YAY!). My question is besides my CCM or whatever her title is now who else do I copy on my letter of resignation? And where do I find their names because I don't know who is above her. Thanks in advance!
P.S. If you are looking for a job just don't give up. I've been looking for 3 years! ...

Just got the call asking why I left MM and how I felt about the company. Hard to answer thoroughly with the choices given but let her know that I thought their policies were despicable. I have handed in my resignation effective immediately. I am so tired of hearing these foreign doctors, failing my audits and working every darn weekend. I have had enough. No, I don't have a job but I am hopeful and I will be getting my husband's SS soon. I just can't take this BS anymore.

sent it to the owner of the company and cc'd her admin asst, who hired me. The AA accidentally replied back to the owner on that same email chain and forgot to delete my name so it was sent to me too, stating she was "ticked off" that I quit, that they had done "so much for me" and basically that it was my fault because I didn't communicate to them that I didn't have enough work. Mind you, we had discussed this via email 3 weeks prior, that I wasn't making enough ...
Hi everyone! Last month, I posted on here that I resigned effective immediately. I had had enough of the crappy ESL doctors, the audits, the poor VR, etc., etc. I just want everyone to know there is hope. I found out today that I will be getting my husband's SS with a lump sum at the end of this month and monthly payments starting in August. The payments may be more than what I originally thought. I have also put out about 40 resumes and have only gotten one bite. that one bite is a ...
