Here's the deal...my company says if/when you work a holiday, they will give you the equivalent hours in PTO to use later on (you work 8, you get 8 PTO). I checked with my state's DOL, and they said absolutely incorrect. You must be an exempt salaried employee for them to do this. They must pay regular employees cash money. The DOL also said that unless the company is a licensed health care facility in my state, which they are not--they only contract with health care facilities, they are supposed to pay time and a half for Sunday work (but that"s another fight I'll save for later). So my question is to those MTs who get holiday pay, how are you paid? Is it double-time of your line rate or is it time and half of your line rate for holiday work? My DOL says state law trumps federal law in matters of wages and hours. I do not want to call them on this unless I have more ammunition, that's why I am asking you all; and I'm also going to double check with my state DOL earlier next week. Thanks for any feedback.
