Great loss for Softscript - prncs

Posted: Jun 06, 2015

Just recently discovered Softscript lost an amazing production manager.  I have worked under a lot of production managers and by far this was one of the best; knowledgeable, helpful, understanding, easy to work with, but at the same time was straight forward and honest in their approach with the group.  Such a shame.  You will be missed greatly.  Wish you the best.

So upsetting to lose LB - Fantastic PM

She was absolutely the best PM I've had at any company. When she came to SS she implemented changes that streamlined the entire process and made it easy to get the work done. Even when she had to deliver some unpleasant news, she did it in a professional yet decent way. I will also miss her pics of her dog!

Yes, her dog is so awesome. Those are some of the things that made her so special. I agree.

SS PM - OKMT

Ditto! :-(

Off the subject but I have a - question

[ In Reply To ..]
Are you guys happy at SoftScript? Nuance's ridiculous compensation plan (never know what you're going to earn from week-to-week) has become unbearable and the straight transcription sounds really good to me...would you recommend SS? Old, worn-out question but you sound like a very thoughtful person to post that about your PM so I figured you'd be a good person to ask! ;-) Thanks in advance to you or anyone else who can fill me in...

off subject reply - prncs

Hi. I totally understand. I have been with SoftScript forever. LOL. I took a leave of absence once, but came back. They give you work, leave you alone. As long as you do what you are supposed to do, you should not have a problem at SoftScript. Never had a problem with pay. I will really miss my PM that just left.

They assign you to accounts and try and match you to type of jobs you like, such as operations or psychiatric, etc. Hope this helps.

schedules - YD

[ In Reply To ..]
Do they offer any flexibility with schedules such as either an expanded window or split shift options? Thanks in advance for your reply!
I believe you can work split shifts - But there is little flexibility
[ In Reply To ..]
As prncs said, SS does try to accommodate their MTs regarding certain types of accounts. Pay is always on time (sometimes early!). One of the negatives are there is no flexibility in working your shifts. You are hired for a specific shift. Be there. End of story. The other negatives are running out of work and an exceptionally poor paid time off schedule.

It helps a lot--thanks for your thoughtful, thorough - reply! nm

Great Line Counts Require Great Dictators.
Feb 11, 2015

I'm always over 200 until I get Mr. Mumblemouth who knows he is not forming actual words when he hums through the PE, as my counts plummet to as loiw as 75 LPH.   Then I get a long report from an excellent fast-talking dictator and my LPH jumps to 340.   Question:  Why is it that the MTSO does not comprehend the fact that our production depends on the capability of the provider to dictate correctly?   The horrid dictators are never told they are doing anything wrong as ...

Great Transcription Job - Great Pay -
Dec 20, 2011

I worked for LabCorp for 7 years - started at $14/hr - left 7 yrs later at $19.86/hour -- company has own credit card for employees -  called a Clear Card - available to ALL employees - Regular working hours. EASY transcription!!!  Could do it in my sleep!  Benefits.  Had a lot of overtime if you wanted it - ($28 an hour when I left - at time and a half).  I would recommend LabCorp to EVERYONE!  They also have data entry if interested.  lower pay, though.& ...

Not To Count My Loss
Nov 05, 2009

why at the end of every shift do I still bother to calculate my line totals - transcription & VR - when 9 out of 10 times I am only discouraged???  Its not my lack of skill, knowledge , speed or anything I have done that determines this loss.  Why, oh why, do I hang in there.  Maybe for the occasional good day?  The high I get when I can fly through a report of an ESL doctor, because I know better what he is trying to say?  Or maybe its the constant editing with ...

Loss Of Benefits
Jan 13, 2010

Okay, I may be dense, the rest of you may have figured this out long ago!  Many times I see comments here about people who cannot get enough work.  Well, at my company, if there is a low volume of work and you cannot meet your line count you are placed on part-time status and cannot regain full-time status until you have met your commitment for 90 days.  Yes, you lose your benefits....your health insurance, paid holidays, dental/vision, etc.  Well, heck, look at the money the ...

Fat Loss In Hands
May 18, 2013

Hello, this may be an unusual question, but I have been transcribing for about 3 months now, after completing 12 months at Career Step. I've been noticing over the last week that my hands are looking almost like skeleton hands. It's like the fat is disappearing and the bones are becoming more prominent. Also, the veins in my hands are becoming very, very vascular. They are about the diameter of a drinking straw. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this common with excessive typing? I ...

VOICE RECOGNITION AND LOSS OF JOB
Jul 30, 2014

Just wondering about this.  For one company that I work for, I had a secondary account -- a hospital, that we were told (e-mailed) we would no longer be typing/editing.  The voice recognition program was getting better all the time and probably was pretty good at this point.  We were just told that we would no longer by doing work for them.  So 2 possibilities: 1)  The hospital was not happy with our editing?   2)  The voice recognition program had gotten so g ...

Hearing Loss/rheumatoid Arthritis
Oct 28, 2009

Anyone out there have any hearing loss? I have developed significant hearing loss. My ENT has encouraged me to keep transcribing, with the use of a boosted headset and I am trying. Telephone use is very difficult and almost non-existent. Boosters do not help. Also diagnosed recently with RA and having difficulty with my fingers, but not letting it get me down. I am on treatment that is working well. Just wondered if anyone else is having any of these issues and how they are dealing with them. Th ...

Any Articles About Productivity Loss From EMR And VR Usage
May 24, 2011

Does anyone have any links to articles that explain the loss in productivity for physicians and their offices because they are wasting time with EHR/EMR's typing their own notes or spending way too much time editing their own voice recognition notes when they could be seeing more patients?  I have lost a few clients to VR systems and EHR/EMR systems because they think they will be more productive, when they actually lose money and time because of the loss in the number of patietns see ...

Oh Just Great! NOT No OT Pay For Me.
Mar 03, 2011

I was just informed that, even though I worked OT in my time zone (PST) and before my shift (second shift), their day is in CST, so anything after their midnight (CST) goes to the next day - that days and hours count in CST. Geez, maybe I should be working my shift in CST hours. That could be nice. I would get to start 2 hours earlier and stop at a more decent hour. This stinks like week-old fish, and I'm thinking the Calif EED might look at it a different way! ...

ISN'T V.R. GREAT!!??!!
Sep 01, 2012

I edit radiology V.R. Reports and Had to post this one..This just goes to show you how well V.R. really works. It printed: Patient motion of skiers detail with multiple scans repeated multiple times to little of L. He said: Patient motion OBSCURES detail with multiple scans repeated multiple times to little AVAIL. Thank God this doctor knows he needs an editor. Most hospitals are letting the doctors "edit" their own work (which they don't do and just sign the stuff and let it go thru b ...
