This really bugs me, and I usually don't mention anything about it, but I am doing a report by a PA, and she is just crunching away while dictating, and can hardly talk while she is eating. She is eating like her life depends upon it, and this is totally rude and obnoxious. I have heard it all though, and there is not 1 MT I have known that hasn't experienced this. They eat, go to the bathroom, have children in the background that they don't try to keep quiet, dogs are barking, wives are talking to the children, and then you have those doctors that are carrying on conversations on their cell phones and they are talking about what they are going to do later in the evening, what they are having for supper, joking on the phone with a friend, and discussing very private matters. They also dictate while they are driving, in convertibles with the wind blurring out the dictation, going through drive thru windows, et cetera. They make us wait while we waste our time, thinking that this report will be great, look at the number of minutes, only to find out they are also talking to the ER staff and other people around them, asking the nurses for assistance and information they can't find in the chart. Well, I can breathe now that I got that off my chest. My only wish is that their cell phones do dead, their cars suddenly stop in traffic, their kids and wives decide to go somewhere else, and all the bathrooms are shut down.
