Companies that get no replies - Curious

Posted: Apr 22, 2012

When someone asks about a company and gets absolutely no responses at all, do you think it's because there are no Americans working there or do you think it's because the company has some kind of gag order?  Just wondering.  Usually every company has some kind of answer but every now and then I see one that gets nothing at all.

I think it's because no matter what you say, you will be attacked. I won't reply to those - Sick of it

I have worked for a few companies that have a clause - PJ

in their contract or in the new hire paperwork that you are required to sign that states that you agree to not make or post any public statements about the company, whether good or bad.

It's an anonymous message board - nm

No Post Clause - anon

I would not work for a company with that clause in their contrac. If its a good company, what does it matter about a few naysayers and if it is a bad company, everyone should know and they don't want us to.

Our right of free speech cannot be taken away by - any clause in a contract. nm

Lots of gagging going on... - sm

This has happened to me too, and I don't get it either. I've asked about a couple on here and have gotten the silent treatment, even after seeing many had read the post, some 200+. Not sure what that's about. I can't imagine not even one of those viewers/readers not ever running across them or any of the job ads making the usual MT rounds, to not be familiar with them? IDK.

I have only ever worked for one company and - still with them. So dont know aobut others.

But when someone asks about that company, I dont respond either because I know I will probably get attacked.

Its funny because nobody will respond to that person's question, but when you decide to respond it's positive then people will come out of the woodworks tearing you to shreds.

It's almost like they took no interest in the post until they saw someone had something nice to say.

exactly - me

I've tried posting positive posts and it generally brings the Nasty Nellies out in full force. You're not allowed to be positive here, weren't you told that? LOL! Just kidding of course.

Positivity has been shown to be unwelcome though and it gets tiring after a while to just read the negative over and over and over. It's easier to read, move on, and make money.

Maybe there is a "gag order" with most companies - I never thought about that. see msg

I often wondered myself. Because anyone can read these boards and anyone is allowed to join as long as you have a ligit email address.

Who is to say management is not on here or team leads etc. reporting back to the company. I often wonder how easy it would be for them to find out who somebody is, especially if that person is slandering their company. I think they could find out if they really want to.

After all most people that come here dont paint rosey pictures, they usually are a bunch of p*ssed off MTs who are'nt happy with their situation. Very few happy campers on this board.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I have a tendency to think your company CAN find out if you are slandering them on this board and could be the reason some have gotten fired or audited to death and pushed out the door.

That's why if you post negative stuff, be VERY careful - to limit identifiers

There was an MT who posted very specific stuff about a company several years ago and they were able to figure out who she was and they actually did end up suing her. It was all very dramatic on the board for a while.

I like my current job, so say nothing negative about the company and have posted positives on several occasions. When I was posting something not so positive about a past job I was still careful to try to limit identifiers, even though I no longer worked there.

My mom used to always say that you should never talk smack about anyone because you never know who that person will end up knowing. It's true in this industry as well. It's a very small world out there.

I was wondering that myself. I was the one who - sm

posted asking about FastChart and got no responses at all and I KNOW there are Americans working there. We have IM and I see the names so not offshoring.

No Replies Possible Solution
Mar 31, 2013

If you sign into Ipswitch with a password and reply to emails or click "new" and compose from scratch, your emails may not be getting to your TSM or QA or whoever.  But if you look in the "Sent" or "Sent Items" folder the email is there, so it seems it's going through.  However, experiment.....send a copy, click cc, to your personal email address and check.  It probably doesn't arrive.  HOWEVER, click the computer start button (computers may vary) and on the left si ...

Anyone Know How To Read The Replies That Slide Off The Right Edge Of The Board
Sep 15, 2010

Anyone know how to read the replies that slide off the right edge of the board?  I can see that there are more posts below, but I cannot grab it to open it. Am I the only one who has this problem?  Is it my computer?   What I mean is when there are replies to replies to replies to replies to replies, eventually the staggered replies move off the right side of my screen and I cannot click on them.   Thought maybe someone else has this problem and found a way to get around i ...

What Is With These Companies?
Dec 30, 2009

Can anyone answer me why is it that these MT companies hire you and they all promise you the sun, moon and stars.  Oh we have TONS of work. We guarantee you at least 11 accounts and 2,500 lines a day. Then you are sitting there 6 months later, waiting for jobs? I have experienced this many times. Can it be that its just bad management and they overhire? Does anyone know of a company that really does have TONS of work? I know this is the slow time of year, but many times its happened at othe ...

Any Companies Who Do Not Use VR? (sm)
Jun 02, 2010

The company I work for has gone VR (on most jobs).  I cannot make any money doing this.  My pay has been cut approximately $150 to $200 every two weeks.  They have already taken away the incentives, and now if you screw up a couple of times on demographics, you do not get paid for the job, and the third or fourth time you are pulled from the account.  I am just so frustrated.  This VR is killing me.  It takes more time to make corrections.  It is frustrati ...

Can Someone Tell My Why Companies Do This?
Sep 30, 2010

So, I see it all of the time, people on here complaining about no work, yet the company they are complaining about is HIRING.  My job recently did this as well.  I am day after day running out of work, but yet I see an ad that they are hiring!  I e-mailed the owner and asked about it and she didn't reply.  I UNDERSTAND that they are hiring for a different account, BUT, since it's all transcribing, why not just move some people around and give those extra accounts to ...

Companies Using XP
Apr 29, 2011

Periodically, I will cruise the MT help wanted, and see some companies that list the system requirements as "must have XP."  My question is this:  I wonder if they mean must have at least XP or do they mean MUST HAVE XP.  I find it difficult to believe that any system out there only works with XP, as Vista has been around for a good long while and even Windows 7 (which I wish DocQ would update to) has been out for a bit.  I mean, it would be very difficult to find a computer ...

I Have To Wonder How These Companies Think We
Apr 13, 2012

can make it on $15 a day!!  I just started a week ago yesterday and have also run out of work twice.  This is really pathetic.  I know some on here say they would never take such a low paying job (4 for editing and 6 for straight typing).  Had I not been desperate, believe me I would not have either.  I have to wonder what happened.  I know I will get a lot of answers to that question, but why in the world are we the ones getting such lousy pay?  I am seriously ...
