Breitner vs. MModal - anon

I'm being offered both places and unsure where to go. My biggest things are working my schedule, I don't want to work extra. I want to do my job and leave. My family is more important. Next, I don't want a supervisor who is rude, crabby or thinks all I have in life is my job. I know there are negatives of MModal, but truthfully (don't hate me) I worked for Nuance and since I left I'm sorry I did. I was very lucky in having very nice supervisors, it was the schedule that ended up making me want out (so my experience wasn't totally bad, unlike some others). Any advice would be appreciated please. Good and bad opinions. How hard is it to make lines, how rude is QA, etc. Thank you to those kind enough to respond. I'd like to make a decision today.

I can only speak to my experience at MModal. I am fortunate to have had 2 supervisors now who are nice. The company has been on overtime for some time now. I believe the mandatory overtime is by work group. My work group is on voluntary, and we were told it would remain that way as long as the reports were remaining current. Other work groups are under mandatory overtime. Also, my accounts with MModal are 99% editing and 1% actual transcription. The editing is not as easy as adding/editing a word here and there. There are times when it would be easier to just type the whole thing yourself.

Anyway, my belief is you have good and bad in every company. I sign on, work my hours and sign off. If I can sign in early, I do...if not, I don't. I will not sacrifice my life for a few cents of overtime pay.

Something to think about, and this is not meant in any other way but informative, is that MModal requires 99.5% accuracy versus the industry standard of 98%.

I, too, used to work for Nuance (whatever Nuance was called before Nuance) and I did not mind them either. Again, I had a supervisor who was nice. The only negative was my shift. I was on third shift and could not get switched.

With M Modal, my supervisor was great but I went broke. The audio was so horrible I always thought I was going deaf. Many different accounts. You must work your schedule or you will be put on performance review. However, aside from that I was left alone to do my work. I left about 1-1/2 years ago and at that time we did not have all this over time I read about.

With Breitner I never lasted more than 1 week. The person "training" me was so nasty if I put a comma out of place I heard about it. My scores were high but when I was to start on the account (my account manager welcomed me) the trainer kept me on full QA. Maybe she felt I had so many years of experience she needed to beat me down to size. Her only problems were with tiny things like commas, a/an, etc. were entirely based upon personal opinion. Her e mails were so nasty I decided not to continue. Believe it or not M Modal direct supervisor and staff left me alone and were nicer than Breitner. I do not know more about Breitner because as I said I did not want to put up with the nastiness.

I do not know if this helps or not. This was my experience. Personally I would not go back to either. I too worked for Nuance and hated it but my supervisor there was decent. I just left because I went broke. I considered going back but after the huge pay cut (new pay plan) at Nuance I decided I did not need to go to the poor house and have a nervous breakdown.

If you had a good working relationship with Nuance, which is totally hard to believe, but nonetheless, you had one, why don't you contact them about going back to work for them and see what you can arrange for your schedule. They are in need of MTs. I got an offer e-mail this morning and I didn't even apply with them; they found me on one of those Zip Recruiter sites. By the way, I deleted the e-mail, but before you jump from the frying pan into the fire, deal with the devil you know, before you deal with the devil you don't. Just a thought. If that doesn't work, then I would NOT go with M*Modal. I worked for them and they were horrible. I think Breitner might be better, but who knows any more; it's a gamble at best. They all suck! Which is very sad.

I left the Q because they cut my pay 3 cpl for a bad audit that I was able to prove QA wrong but anyway.

Currently work for Breitner but am looking for another job. Can't stand working for them any more.

Anyone else who is applying or already applied at Breitner? Anyone work there or previously worked there? I see they use MT Test for their testing. I did the application but have not started the actual testing yet. Gosh it would be so nice to just have to transcribe one sound file! Wishful thinking! That's not gonna happen I'm sure. Has anyone here attempted the Breitner testing? This company certainly searched high and low to find the absolute hardest reports for their testing. I am familiar with the terminology on both reports as I have done genetic reports and am familiar with these words. I accepted an offer of employment from Breitner. The same day, I received an email request for a phone interview from Amphion. I replied to Amphion, stating I had accepted the other job. They just emailed me back with a stated pay rate that is 1 and 2 cpl (typing and VR) more than the other job. Can anyone give me ideas on how each company is to work for?
