Breitner transcription - nothing recent? - M2

I went to the archives, nothing recent. What is the deal with this company. I need to hear the truth. Thanks.
I have them on my "good company" list. - Looking

Based on posts on this forum (which certainly could be biased/disinfo), Breitner is on my "good companies to work for" list. The only reason I haven't applied to them is because when you go to their website and get linked to MTTest.com, it says their openings are acute care positions. I would rather have a deep root canal done on every tooth in my oral cavity before doing AC again.
Why hating AC so much? - SeriousMT

Just a curiosity question here -- why do you dislike acute care so much? I only ask because I always am thrilled to be on acute care accounts because of the constant variety of specialties I get to dictate as well as the different doctors (although this is generally from a pool of maybe 50 MDs, so I do get used to them). What has your experience been with AC accounts, if you don't mind sharing...
Around the world and back. - Looking

Back in the "old days," when MTSOs assigned the SAME MTs to work the SAME accounts (or dictators, or work types)day in and day out, it was very different. I didn't mind doing AC nearly so much back then.
Now it's around the world and back, doing EVERY worktype, doing ALL the dictators on staff, NEVER really becoming familiar with the dictator's habits, manner, and voice because you will do him today and he may not roll back around for another year or two.
I realize that not ALL facilities and companies are doing this, but it seems to be the case more often than not. You can have it; I shall pass.

Sounds like you worked for the Q!!! Personally, I love AC, I like the variety and have had the same accounts for the year I've been where I am and do get new accounts when they need help. I get very, very bored doing the same thing all the time. Just me though!
Breitner is the same........ - ME2

At Breitner you never know who or what you are going to get. You can't really make a whole lot of money because you're always looking things up (different rules for different doctors and report types), can't understand the doctors, etc., and they have way overhired for the last 5 years. My salary has gone down at least 10,000 dollars in the last 3 years.

Be careful, truth has a mind of it's own around here... My advice to you is to call the company. Usually you can get a good "feeling" from a conversation, but go with what your gut tells you.

Stable accounts, plenty of work on the account I work on. They leave you alone to do your work, but are available if you need something. They have VR and straight transcription. Pay is decent (by today's standards). Overall a good company to work for.

Wondering how turn over rate is, do people stay for a long time. Is the work plentiful and steady, and is the QA fair. I don't live too far so I am considering applying since so many good responses here.

I worked for Breitner late last year. I lasted 2.5 months before I quit. My thoughts:
I was given a choice between straight versus editing, and I chose straight typing.
I made it up to the required 1200 lines per 8-hour shift in 4 weeks' time, which I thought was pretty good considering the multi-specialty and many, many doctors on the account.
It was going okay, but I personally couldn't handle having to stick to a strict schedule after being used to lots of flexibility with my prior job. I also requested Thanksgiving off 5 weeks in advance, but was told my request couldn't be approved because there were "already people off that day."
I also found that help was rarely available when needed, and when I did seek out help, it was given with a bit of a condescending air. I also got tired of hearing "you can find the answer in the 5000 or so informational emails you were sent." They would NEVER just give a straight answer, no matter how short or simple it would have been for them to do. I know part of our job is finding information for ourselves, but geesh. It was a worn out record.
Pay was accurate and on time.
I felt that management was cold the whole time. I was doing a good job, rarely receiving negative feedback, and getting up to 1200 lines per day consistently in 4 weeks. Never was told good job, never ever any positive words, just silence. And the icing on THAT cake was that when I gave my notice, my last day came and went with no "see ya," no "thanks," no "goodbye," no nothing.
Just my experience.
