I don't find it too difficult to make the minimum. I just find it frustrating (maybe it's just me) that I can sit there for 10 hours but only end up with 6 hours of type time. Could be my own productivity problem I'm not sure so I don't want to place the blame on the company. But they do need to fix that occasional glitch where the typing time comes up as a matter of seconds which would mean a person typed the report in less time than the dictation was actually long.

It is frustrating to spend that much time in front of the computer but only get paid for a fraction of it. I think it's happening to most of us. Just make sure you're keeping track of your typing time yourself. You know when you worked, no matter what the program says. Hang in there.

And the holiday weekend will make it even harder to sm - wondering

make minimum lines/hours. I'm not sure how the work flows, whether there's more work late in the afternoon/nights/weekends or what. Holidays are definitely going to mess up the requirements.

Columbus Day is NOT a Federal Holiday so work should not be affectted.

VAs have been closed on Columbus Day (or at least there's been an extremely low amount of work) in all the years I've ever worked on a federal account.

People who work on Federal accounts get Federal Holidays that people who work for regular hospitals don't get. My MT friend might get the 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas off working at a private hospital but nothing else, while I'll get all of those plus Veteran's Day, Columbus Day, Martin Luther King Jr Birthday, etc working federal. There's a huge difference between federal holidays and "the holidays."

I also agree that it's going to make for a stressful Tues-Fri (Sat if there is leftover work) trying to make the minimum hours.

I LOVE working from home. I love my CCM, she is extremely understanding and flexible, which is what I need! If our skills are valued the same as fast food workers, then why do they require at least one year's experience as an MT to be hired? Why do newbies have to have gone to school? Work faster, produce more lines, work more efficiently, make less errors, correct the MDs errors, work outside your shift regularly if you run out of work on regular shifts, help your fellow employees -- all for less pay. At Mmodal, our minimum requirement is 1200 lines per day. That's an awful big difference! Do people have trouble making 2000 lines at TTS? Is this a way to get out of providing benes? (I ask because I worked for a small MTSO years ago who used that method.) Or are the platform and accounts so great that it is actually achievable on a regular basis? ...

So, I probably missed this in another post but just got an e-mail from our admin ass't saying I didn't make the minimum lines for the past pay period so will be getting paid minimum wage. So I have been very careful not clocking in when work is low because I don't want my LPH to suffer, BUT.....Is there anyone out there who just clocks in and takes the reports slow as they come and accepts the minimum wage? How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional? I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I'm trying to figure out where the average numbers are. For me, I do about 350 trad and about 1400 VR in 8 hours. I've worked for MQ before, just before CBay bought MQ, but I can't remember (and maybe it's changed) what is the minimum number of hours or lines required per week? Massachusetts may well pass a minimum wage of $11 (over 3 years). It's passed the state senate. Parts of WA (Seatac) actually have a $15 minimum wage. Wonder what Nuance will do about MUP now, since so many in those states will be getting it. Could get interesting. ...

My primary account is a straight typing account. I can't consistently make the minimum line count of 150 lph in our 8 hours. I use my shorthand and as many normals as i can, but I'm making no money. Bottom line is, regardless of the new pay rules, it's hard to even make above minimum wage before or after the new rules. So at least federal law guarantees minimum wage. Beyond that, my goal is to get out of this field and leave this MTSO company ASAP, though it won't happen overnight. ...
