This is absolute proof of first step in dump employee status (so they won't get nailed for higher unemployment rates as employees are let go/fired)....IC also shifts taxes to IC and company gets huge benefit from that. I have seen this way too many times. No wonder we are always out of TAT, everybody is sick now, etc etc Bonus will only work so long

Well, aren't they important! I'll just bet they sit in those board rooms salivating at the thought of more profit off the backs of the MTs. As ICs we get no benefits, no match for the SS, and no unemployment checks if they lay us off. Slave labor intensified.

actually considers an IC and what the laws are. It seems to me that if they want all IC, then they can't tell them what hours they have to work, etc. Right now, they get their cake and eat it too, no bennies or taxes on IC and get to tell them when they have to work. I bet if they got cited a few times for calling you IC, but requiring you to adhere to their rules, they might not be so happy in the boardroom. Only, those who are IC can control this. Frankly, I refuse the headache of IC and won't do it. But, I do notice more and more job apps are for IC-NO THANKS!

used to be IC. Will NEVER do it again. It was always....IC but "we" only need you XYZ times and you MUST get 1/2/3 line count. That is NOT IC. THAT is a FT employee without benefits.

I disagree. From what I have seen, Imedx always advertised for IC only. Not until they were posturing to "merge" with other transcription companies late last year/early this year did I ever see any job advertisements by Imedx for employee status. As soon as the mergers went through they reverted to advertising IC status. IMO, most of those working for Imedx that have employee status were MTs who were acquired with companies that were mergers or acquisitions. They have acquired roughly 10-15 transcription companies in the past two years. I believe that they whittle away at all the benefits that their acquired employees have to drive them away and replace them with a combination of US IC MTs and India MTs. Imedx does not as a matter of common practice seek to hire MTs as employee status. BTW, the India MTs fare much better than US MTs, perhaps because that government requires companies doing business there to provide employee status with benefits.

Imedx business practices? Most of us know that Imedx does not want employees, they only want the accounts that the smaller MTSOs have, so they buy them out. Case in point would be the acquisition of companies over the past 2-3 years. Imdex has seldom hired MTs as employees. This is nothing new.

they have no idea what IC status is. They cannot control anything...time you work, lines you type..."independent" you work for yourself, contracted through them. None of these companies have a good take on the IRS description of IC. Letting you go is much easier though. lock you out and gone.

As an IC, they cannot demand a whole lot out of you, but MTs never fight it and/or, they always manage to find someone to work as an IC and do exactly as they say. THOSE are the MTs that are killing us. The ones who put up with these illegal practices and never do anything about it. Those are the MTs I hate. To me, it's akin to being beat up by someone, and then returning day after day for the same treatment. I hope all of you are looking for another job. I certainly have been.
