Checking In - Former MT

Posted: Jul 16th, 2025 - 12:47 pm In Reply to: I Don't Know - See Msg

Checking in for the first time in quite a while. Yikes! (spam posts).
I lost my best and longest MT job in 2014 and it was a wild ride after that, including one final MT in-house position in 2016. That's where I learned that, for me, MT was over (long story) and after more plot twists I got my current position where I've been for seven years (today, in fact).
A lot of stuff is outsourced here too, but this specific area where I landed is very unusual and given the "nature of the beast" outsourcing is extremely unlikely (I won't say it could never happen).
I've always known I would not be retiring early or even semi-early so I am glad to have found this gig, though I am still sorry MT was ruined since it was a fine line of work once upon a time.
Job hunting/applying in general is a royal PITA and I've also experienced situations (in MT and other roles) where a good track record/proven performance didn't matter. It sucks.
I hope everyone here can find the right spot for them.
Best wishes to all.
