Most of us loved the job and put up with a lot of abuse over many years. Nobody should have to endure the verbal abuse that is out there, Took it inhouse from some physicians also, but there at least were avenues to go down to get some satisfaction and respect, somewhat.
Had 2 female radiologists come into the department swearing at us MTs. Don't know where MTs can go to now since doctors now are computer literate and use the voice recognition and make their own corrections. Mmodal and Nuance found ways to abuse many a workers for their own profits. Their rules and regulations were demeaning and abusive, habitual and intentional. Yet they got away with it for years. They offshored and lied about everything. They made promises to the hospitals They had accounts that were inaudible because of the English as second language doctors. Told the doctors were complaining and that the off-shore services would be able to do a better job.
Such an out-and out lie because I worked with an East Indian and she was upset because of other MTs leaving her the garbage thinking the same. She had trouble too. The services promised turn-around times and if they did not meet that time, they had to take less in the enormous line charges they were asking Over 20 years ago, they were asking 13 cents per line while the MT was given 7 cpl. No benefits, no OT nor differential, n taxes taken out, no supplies given. Kind of the same as illegal immigrant workers. Told by Mmodal supervisor that if one could not understand the foreign doctor's dictation of a lab value that I should take a college course in lab values to know what is normal and abnormal.
